UTC Soccer Adds McCollum Transfer

  • Monday, March 30, 2015
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s soccer head coach Gavin McKinney made another addition to the 2015 roster with transfer Peyton McCollum.

“We’re delighted to have her here at Chattanooga,” McKinney said. “She had a very good freshman year in a very good conference.”

McCollum, fifth on the team in scoring at Middle Tennessee, secured a spot on Conference USA's All-Freshman Team. She started in 14 games and played in 18 in her rookie year. McCollum tallied two game-winning goals in conference play last fall with a goal against Florida Atlantic and Florida International.
That earned her C-USA Player of the Week Honors for that week's performance. She also added an assist against Alabama to register five points for the Blue Raiders in her first collegiate season.

“She is a very dynamic and versatile player,” McKinney added. “She can play more than one position and therefore can be a really effective player for us in a variety of ways.

“Peyton is a great student and an excellent person. She fits the mold of what we are looking for here at Chattanooga.”

The 2014 Oak Ridge graduate tallied 72 career goals in high school ranking sixth all-time for her alma mater and added 21 career assists. She was a two-time all-state selection, a three-time All-Region honoree and named to the All-District team four times. She was named to the All-District Freshman Team in 2010 and earned All-District MVP honors in 2014. She was named Oak Ridge’s Offensive Player of the Year and received the MVP Award as a junior. The Oak Ridge, Tenn., native played club soccer for FC Alliance in Knoxville, Tenn., where she helped the team win the 2014 State Championship and the U18 Girls Disney Showcase.

The Mocs head to Huntsville, Ala., Saturday, April 4 to take on UAH in a scrimmage that kicks off at 4 p.m. Eastern time.
