MURFREESBORO -- The new kid on the block - Signal Mountain- and a veteran Spring Fling program – Chattanooga Christian Girls - both posted 4-0 win Tuesday to advance to the Spring Fling XIV state tournament finals Wednesday.
Playing at the Old Fort Park Tennis Complex here Tuesday, Signal Mountain shutout CPA, while CCS stopped Union City.
Signal Mtn. Boys – The Eagles (11-1) used singles wins at Nos.2-5 to defeat Christ Presbyterian, 4-0, and will play Christian Academy of Knoxville in Wednesday’s final at 10 a.m. EDT.
“To play in the program’s first ever state final is exciting and it should be a good match," SM coach Jordan Willcutt.
Winners for the Eagles were Roger Trombley, Thomas Thelen, Gabe Williams and Carson Williams.
Trinity Christian and CAK were tied 2-2 in singles, but CAK claimed a victory at No.1 doubles before Trinity evened the score, 3-3, with a 3-set win at No.5, only to have CAK win the No.2 doubles and advance to the finals.
CAK in State Tournament: The Warriors won it all in 2013 and lost to Lipscomb Academy in the finals a year ago.

CCS Girls – The Chargers had wins by Addie Henry, Olivia Torbett, Olivia Underwood and Ashley Rice at Nos. 2-5 dropping only five games in the four straight set wins to defeat Union City, 4-0.
CCS will face defending champion Knox. Catholic which defeated MTCS, 4-0, and has its top five starters back from last year’s title team.
CCS Tradition: The Chargers have won nine girls state tennis titles, the last coming in 2013.

“I knew we would come out a little nervous playing in the state semis, but the girls settled down after a few games and played well,” said CCS coach Melanie Reynolds.
