CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – On Wednesday, May 15, the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association (TBCA) named the Mr. Baseball finalists, which included Montgomery Central two-way player Gabe Eddington for class 3A.

MCHS head coach Todd Dunn confirmed the news on social media, along with Eddington’s 2023-24 stats, which included a batting average of .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases. Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. It’s important to note, Eddington threw two no-hitters during his senior year as well.

“With it being my senior season, I felt like I had something to prove,” Eddington told Clarksville Now. “That’s what really drove me throughout the whole season.” As for Dunn, he held Eddington’s 2023-24 season in high regard.

“Gabe has had a better year than any player I have ever coached,” Dunn said. “Some players have had better hitting or pitching stats but combined, Gabe is the most complete player. He’s great and deserves this award.”

The other two finalists for the Mr. Baseball Award in class 3A is Livingston Academy’s Carson Parrott and Loudon High’s Jaxon Walker. The award ceremony has been set for Tuesday, May 21 in Murfreesboro.
