DHS’s Batts takes 2nd in long jump

Danville’s DJ Batts finished in second place in the boys long jump to lead Danville at the Class 1A-3A AHSAA state track meet in Selma.

Batts’ effort of 21-7.25 was just 2.25 inches behind the winning jump in Class 3A.

Dallas McAbee was fifth in the boys 110-meter hurdles and seventh in the boys 200 meters. Slater Robinson was sixth in the boys javelin and Matthew Terry took seventh in the boys shot put.

On the girls side, Tara Jolley was sixth in the 3A shot put. Keeley Templeton finished 10th in the triple jump.

Overall, the boys finished 13th while the girls were 21st.

Brewer had a girl and a boy score points for their school during the Class 4A-6A meet in Gulf Shores.

In the girls high jump, Ember Dutton took fifth place with a 4-10 effort. Zachary Brown was in seventh place in the high jump with a 5-10 effort.

Tyler Johnson carried the banner for Priceville, finishing sixth in the 1,600 meters and eighth in the 800 meters.
