WSN volleyball teams sweep Flomaton

Other than one hiccup in the varsity games, the W.S. Neal volleyball teams blew by the Flomaton Hurricanes Monday at home to sweep the Hurricanes.
The middle school Lady Eagles claimed a 2-0 win over Flomaton to improve to 7-1 while the JV Lady Eagles also claimed a 2-0 win to improve to 2-3. In varsity action, after losing set one, W.S. Neal won the next three sets to take down the Lady Hurricanes 3-1 and improve to 3-3 this year.
The middle school Lady Eagles earned wins of 25-5 and 25-10 while the JV Lady Eagles won 25-19 and 25-14.
In varsity action, the Lady Eagles lost set on 26-24 before taking se two 25-18, set three 25-20 and set four 25-16 to claim the win.
“It is a good win,” W.S. Neal head coach Jason Blaney said. (Flomaton head) coach Green and Flomaton have a really good and athletic team. Any time we can beat them it is good. It was a great win by the girls coming off the weekend.”
W.S. Neal, who hosted T.R. Miller Tuesday in an area game, will be back in action Thursday at Pleasant Home. Game times are set for 4, 5 and 6 p.m. with the middle school teams playing first followed by the JV teams and then the varsity teams. Pleasant Home will come to W.S. Neal on Monday, September 30. The game will follow the same format as Thursday’s away games.

WSNMS 2, Flomaton 0
W.S. Neal Middle School picked up their fifth straight win Monday night at home as they downed Flomaton 2-0.
In set one, Janiya McCants served 11 straight points for W.S. Neal to give them an early 11-0 win. W.S. Neal would hold leads of 15-1 and 19-2 in the game before coming away with the 25-5 win.
In set two, W.S. Neal led Flomaton 15-10 midway through the game before McCants reeled off nine straight to end the game and give W.S. Neal a 25-10 win. McCants finished with 10 service points and one ace in the 15-point win.

WSN JV 2, Flomaton 0
In JV action Monday night, the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles picked up their second win of the season with a 2-0 win over Flomaton.
In set one, a 25-19 win for the Lady Eagles, Tiffany Robinson led with eight service points with two being aces.
In set two, W.S. Neal came away with a 25-14 win to take the match 2-0. In the set, Robinson once again led the Lady Eagles in service points as she finished with 10 and had one ace.

WSN varsity 3, Flomaton 1
Down 1-0 after the first set, the W.S. Neal Lady Eagle volleyball team rallied to defeat Flomaton 3-1 with three straight wins Monday night at home.
In set one, W.S. Neal led 24-22 before Flomaton scored four straight points to stun the Lady Eagles.
In the opening set, Jodi Busby had three points, one ace and a kill to lead in the loss.
In set two, W.S. Neal defeated Flomaton 25-18 to tie the match at 1-1. In the win, Mee Mee Lawson led with six service points and two aces.
In the third set, W.S. Neal took a 2-1 lead in the match as they claimed a 25-20 win. Lading the way for W.S. Neal was Tykeria Nolan with four service points while Jasmine Crook added three kills, two service points and one ace.
In the fourth set, W.S. Neal trailed Flomaton 10-8 before Busby reeled off nine straight service points with two being an ace to come away with a 25-16 win and take the match.
