DOUGLAS — Crossville picked up its first boys Class 4A, Area 12 win of the season by edging Douglas 55-50 Tuesday night at Loyd Berry Gym.

The contest was tied 14-14 after a quarter, but the Lions (7-3, 1-2) led 28-25 and 37-33 at the other rest stops.

Alex Watkins paced Crossville with 15 points. Ty Cole, Brody White and Blake Lyon all scored nine.

Bradley Best contributed seven, Luis Garcia three, Edgar Diaz two and Tait Holcomb one.

Cole collected eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. Watkins grabbed eight rebounds.

Crossville converted 16 of 22 free throws, including 10 of 12 in the second half.

Douglas’ Tyler Garrett scored a game-high 23 points. He sank 5 of 11 3-pointers.

Andrew Harris and Wesley Garrett tossed in six each, both Corey Corkran and Matt Daniel five, Efrain Diaz and Austin Woods two each and Alex Wisener one.

Austin Hancock grabbed seven rebounds for the Eagles. Tyler Garrett cleared five.

VARSITY GIRLS

Douglas 51, Crossville 46 

Douglas received 23 points from Brianna Farris and 12 from Audrey Glitzer as it knocked off Crossville.

Douglas improved to 1-1 in the 4A, Area 12 standings while Crossville slipped to 1-2.

Farris sank 5 of 11 3-pointers, and Glitzer made 8 of 10 free throws.

The Eagles led 14-9 after the first period, but Crossville pulled in front 22-18 at intermission. The Lions were up 29-26 at the final quarter break.

DHS outscored the Lions 25-17 in the fourth period.

Both Hannah Williams and Brooklyn Brothers scored eight points for the Eagles.

Glitzer grabbed nine rebounds while Farris had five. Brothers added seven boards and four assists.

Crossville’s top scorer was Jaycie Bobo with 10 points.

Mattie Lacey contributed eight, both Kassadi Bobo and Olivia Wooten six and Koree Croley and Cassie McDaniel five each. Macy Smith added four and Tatem Jones two.

Smith grabbed eight rebounds while Jaycie Bobo cleared five.

Kassadi Bobo made three steals and three assists.

Douglas finished 8 of 21 beyond the arc and 13 of 23 from the foul line.

Crossville was almost perfect from the free-throw line, sinking 11 of 12 attempts. The Lions made just 3 of 14 treys.
