Haven't heard. If I was them, I'd promote Lance Traywick. He's also a proven winner.

Absolutely. If gatlinburg is serious about baseball they will promote traywick. He did really good at sevier co. Gp's coach from last year still teaches at the school tho. We'll see which way they go

They can kiss baseball goodbye if they rehire LaFollette. Traywick started up the Pigeon Forge program and led them to state runner-up in 05. Then, as you surely know, he took Sevier County baseball to new heights, and a lot of what Taylor has done is because of what Traywick left him.

Absolutely right. Traywick did an awesome job at p forge and schs. Taylor was set to succeed at sevier co. Taylor has proven to be a good hire, but traywick left the schs baseball at an extremely high level. He should be promoted right away at gp, but gp really doesn't care about baseball. That's why im curious what they'll do.

Heard that traywick said he doesn't want it

Wow. But now that I think of it, he told me during the season that he may spend the next few years as an assistant and not deal with the stress of being a head coach, then after his boys grow a few more years he'll probably get back into it. And he reiterated how much time coaching takes out of his family life, so all in all I'm not surprised.

Sadly, G-P baseball will probably sink again unless they hit a home run hire. Whatever they do, rehiring LaFollette is not the way to go IMHO.

G-P has hired McMinn Central's Travis Hart. From what I've heard from parents and players, he made a bad impression. Evidently in the meeting, he told the players right off the bat if they talk bad about his daughter they'll be cut and then if they continue to, he'll have his son (rising senior) beat their [butt]. He also talked a lot about his son and then told the returning catcher that if his son ever needed a break that he could catch for him

So, G-P baseball is about to go back down the drain.

Travis Hart has had his share of winning while at McMinn Central. McMinn Central has a nice facility and the baseball team always had the best of everything for the most part. He is a good fund raiser and was got along fairly well with the booster club. He can be a little abrasive sometimes as can most coaches but he knows baseball and generally does a good job getting the most our of his kids. Sounds that maybe those quotes were taken out of context. His son is a good player and unless the returner is better, well he is going to play. Lots of times when there is a change, lots of parents are anxious about a lot of things. I think Coach Hart will do fine at GP.

No he actually said those things. And he doesn't sound like he's even going to give the returning catcher a chance to prove himself is the problem. Maybe Eric is better, but it's not a foregone conclusion.

Travis Hart has applied for jobs everywhere for years now trying to get out of McMinn Central. He obviously doesn't realize baseball is an afterthought at G-P. Warner didn't get along with G-P's AD, who is also the longtime football coach, bc he thought Warner was "distracting them from football."

The way Travis Hart handled that first meeting was downright WRONG. And because of that, a lot of players are transferring to Pigeon Forge.

    • Yep..could possibly have 3 teams ranked in top ten in the same four team district.
    • He had an opportunity to be the OC at TC without final say in the offensive gameplan. How does that work? Smh. Head Coaches are public figures regardless of the community size, and yes there are some out there, it’s irrelevant and not fair to them to name them on here. Also why is said “head coach” the head coach of the MS baseball program to begin with? Oh because no one wants it. As for the Lebanon question, I know what I’ve been told so just going off here say, some of the boosters were not happy with his roster decisions and wanted him out. Although he lead them to 20+ wins in multiple seasons
    • A head coach in the school system? No I dont think so. Head coaches are public figures in small communities. Not trying to slander, but this is an actual question. Do you know why he was forced to resign at Lebanon? This was his second chance.  He already left trousdale once and had an opportunity to come back a couple of years ago but spoiled that.
    • Are you perfect? Nope no one is, at the end of the day there are several teachers/coaches and even some in the Trousdale County school system that have DUI’s on their record. You’re correct on it being a bad mistake and it unfortunately could have ended horribly. While you consider the consequences minimal, I can assure you they are not. Ultimately I hope and have faith that he will learn from it and use it to better himself.
