Homewood-Flossmoor (IL) had a heck of a lot of talent.  They weren't just any team..... new coach from Bolingbrook....6 transfers and 6 kids that have signed to go on to the next level.  http://southtownstar.suntimes.com/sports/baranek/23936628-452/baranek-homewood-flossmoor-girls-basketball-coach-smith-has-quite-the-following.html Riverdale was in position to win the game, but lost 63-62.  Riverdale's Coach Barrett is not scared to put their winning streak on the line to play any team in the country willing to play.  It isn't about the winning streak...it is about what happens in March.  Riverdale will be just fine....and probably a better team now that monkey is off their back.  Teams gun for Riverdale every week.  Glad it happened against a team of that caliber and not against a mediocre team.  This wasn't an upset at all.

I was at the game last night and you are right about Riverdale having a chance to win the game. The officials did a good job of keeping them in it. Homewood Flossmoor never got into the bonus situation in either half with only 12 total fouls called on Riverdale (6 per half). Riverdale was in the double bonus during both halfs with over 25 fouls called on Homewood Flossmoor. Riverdale is still a very good team and may win another state championship this year but it is important to know why it is so difficult sometimes for teams to beat Riverdale at home. Last night Riverdale just didn't make enough of all those free throws.

brandon 100 im not saying riverdale is not good. they are still great and are the favorites to win state again. don't take it so personal. all im saying is they lost alot from last year. i think the gap is narrowing. i think they are gonna have closer games this year along with blackman. for example, blackman beat columbia by 2 the other night. mount juliet girls annilated columbia yesterday. i just think aaa is gonna be wide open this year and that's a good thing.

District 7-AAA was represented well this weekend!  Riverdale lost a heartbreaker to Homewood-Flossmoor 63-62.  HW will show to be a top national power this year.  Blackman and Riverdale both beat 2 time 5A Missouri State Champ  and #12 M A X P R E P S nationally ranked Rockbridge High School this weekend.  Blackman also beat #20 M A X P R E P S nationally ranked Mceachern (GA) 67-74.  Oakland defeated Marian Central Catholic (IL) on Friday, then Oakland defeated 2013 6A State Runner Up Blount High School (AL) 45-42 on Saturday.  

 

District 7-AAA is gonna be tough this year again!

Thank You to everyone who came to Murfreesboro to coach, play or watch some awesome girls basketball this weekend.  A huge Thank You to all the people who helped put the event on.  I saw some old friends and made some new ones....  It was a lot of fun and I got to see some great basketball....
