64NB95
Hendersonville has been 4 times to the Title game. They are 0 - 4 running the Wing - T. The Wing T is a good offense for 1 and 2A Football. It is not the Offense you need to win the state in 3A thru 6A. Maryville's Penetration of taking out the pulling Guards destroyed it. It is very hard to establish a good balanced attack out of this Set. Above the 2A level I have seen very few Championships won in the past 25 years with the Wing T. MaryvilleRebels
The thing that surprised me was that the Hendersonville quarterback actually had a very good arm. I think they would have had a very good season and would have been much harder to beat had they played a more traditional offense. His deep throws were right on the money and they were very deep. His problems came with the fact that Maryville knew when they had to pass, because they typically only did it on the more obvious passing downs, and they weren't used to throwing it with any consistency. With more preparation in the passing game they could have been a very deadly team. I think if they implemented Maryville's offense, an spread option or read option, with some passing then they would have been a much better team. Just my opinion. big D
the only offense that will win a championship in 6A is Maryville's. Runner up to one of the best teams in the nation... and you want them to change... thier first year in 6A and get to the Final... and you want them to change.. HHS has a large winning percentage with Wing T... and you want them to change.. i dont get it.
bigchief
Wing T is in the NCAA National Championship Game this year. Just sayin. You run what you know.
redandblack63
Hillsboro won at least one title running wing t type offense. Multiple teams in Ga have won titles with wing t. Webb has won multiple titles. The wing t actually gives teams with lesser talent a chance to compete at a high level. IMO.

I agree...not a fan of the Wing T.....and if someone is going to win it all with that offense at the higher levels in the near future, they better be bigger, faster, and stronger across the board than there opponent. jammin01
Wing T is in the NCAA National Championship Game this year. Just sayin. You run what you know. your saying because the HC read a wingt book and based his offense off the concepts its the wingt, thats like saying because you throw the ball five times a game you have a passing game. The post that said it works in 1A 2A is correct, there are schools that have success with the wing t but the spread game wins out by a large margin , its not even close. 64NB95
I dont know what national championship you will be watching because the Wing T will not be ran by FSU or Aurburn During the SEC Championship a Comment was made that Gus Malzon developed his Offense by a book he read titled "THE DELAWARE WING T" . This was probably true. A lot of concepts he probably arrived from in his ball fakes and blocking schemes was found in his book. What Auburn runs is not a Wing T. It would have been embarrassing running the Wing T as Hendersonville ran it against Alabama. LOL

I was just informing him that if he wants to watch the wing t don't tune in to the National Championship
GWAVE1
I pointed this out over 10 years ago on this board and some wanted to argue its validity. 10 years since then I still am correct.
bigchief
1. He has stated many times that his offense is a hybrid of the wing T. So yes, many of the principles are there. 2. I have no idea who Aurburn is. Auburn is in the SEC. Aurburn. No idea. 3. If you think the spread would have helped Hendersonville win the championship, you are delusional. Maryville had by far more talent on the field. That is what wins championships. Jimmys and Joes not x's and O's. I bet CPA starts to correct that in football like basketball has. 4. Both Blackman and Oakland were much better than Hendersonville. The Commandos just got the good side of the bracket and squeaked out a couple against Station Camp and White Station. If they had to go the other way on the bracket, they are done 2nd round. 5. Geez. You act like Hendersonville should be state champ every year. Too many schools around there pulling your players. He has done a great job. Did you really think at the start of the year that Hendersonville would be playing in Cookeville? C'mon.
