Dan Duff Returning to Hixson as Head Coach

Coach Dan Duff is a Hixson Wildcat.  Again.

 

The 51-year-old Columbus, Ga. native takes the head coaching reigns for the second time, having posted a 28-35 record as the Hixson coach, 1996-2001.

 

Duff led the Wildcats to three winning seasons, four straight appearances in the playoffs with a high water mark of 9-3 in 1999.

 

He replaces Jason Fitzgerald who was 16-8 in two years at Hixson (7-4, 9-4) with a district title this past fall. Fitzgerald is now the Meigs County head coach.

 

"Hixson is a great place to teach and coach," said Duff. "I loved it when I was here before and look forward to continuing the success coach Fitzgerald had the past two years."

 

Duff coached Rockmart (Ga.) HS the past 12 years compiling a 76-76 record with five trips to the playoffs.

 

"Dan is the right fit to be our head coach, he is a proven winner and a great motivator of young men," said Hixson athletics director Bryan Bray.

 

Duff Notes: "My first game as a Hixson head coach in 1996 was against Soddy Daisy and we open with them this fall."

Spring Practice:  Start May 5 and has nine days to practice ... Hixson will scrimmage Sequatchie Valley on the last day of spring practice.
