private vs public tssaa needs to seperate

half of the schools that end up at state are private schools. another thing about private schools that always has bothered me is they have the money to pay the best coach and all they have to do is coach nothing else with the school if i am wrong let me know

kinda what i thought. kinda ticked cause our region top 2 girls and boys have the same 2 teams playin 1 is a private other is a school that just moved down a classfication do not know how that happened

There are several of the larger private schools where the coaches do not teach classes.  In many of the smaller private schools the coaches do teach classes.

of course, put rules in place for all schools under TSSAA to have a coach that also teaches full time at the school. no coaching if all youll do is coach. and no non-faculty assistants.

Total split would be interesting, but I'm not sure everyone is thinking of what can really happen with a total split. Would it really be better? What if all of the privates pulled out of TSSAA & started their own league? That would then really open up the "recruiting" of the best players around because they could decide that recruiting is not illegal. Now the publics are losing the best players to the privates. Privates tend to have a pretty good following of fans that pay a lot of $$ at gates, does TSSAA & privates want to lose that revenue? I've seen regular season football games on TV where a large Nashville public school was playing a private and their couldn't have been 50 fans in the stands for the public school. Is that enough to support a football program? BTW, if you really believe the publics aren't out there recruiting kids, getting parents to move to certain zones, getting a kid to live with grandma in their zone, then you are a little blind to the entire situation anyways.

HA...HA...HAAAA! Boy that's funny right there, I don't care who you are! Problem is, it's a lot closer to the truth than some would like to admit. 2011... Friendship Christian Academy,state champs in football, men's basketball, volleyball, and were the #1 pick by most in baseball going into the tournament (you can't win 'em all). Their website proudly proclaimed that 70% of students participated in athletics...translation = applications from athletic students take precedence over all others (that's as diplomatic as I could be). No public school can approach 70% participation, period. The local high school has around 500 students, and the same 20 to 30 kids can be found in a basketball, baseball, softball or football jersey, dependent of which season it is and the gender of the student, most in the starting lineup. Throw in the soccer (conflict's with other sports) teams and the football bench and you might just round up the percentage to 20% total. 70% participation and competitive at the highest level in almost every TSSAA sanctioned sport is unattainable without recruitment, and that is an Indisputable fact...can't wait to hear the reply to this... 70% participation is reason enough to split private from public. I am tired of this debate just do it already. the sad thing is what about all those public schools who were the best in the state that got beat in the championship games by a private. tssaa knows its wrong and just keeps counting their money letting it happen. if you are really into it for the kids and the competition then you will split.
