Former Pickett Co. Mr. Basketball nominee Nathan Aaron has been hired as the new Pickett Co. head coach. Nathan graduated in 2002 as class valedictorian, then attended Freed-Hardeman and played basketball there. He has been an asistant coach to another outstanding former Pickett Co. player, Eric Mitchell at White County High School.  Nathan was a 5 year starter at Pickett Co., scored 3003 points and set the school record for points in a game with 56 points.

Everyone in PC is extremely excited about Nathan becoming the head coach and I believe he will return Pickett Co. back to one of the top programs in the state once again. He has a sold group of players returning for 2014-15, along with an exceptionally talented group of freshmen coming in.

Not only has he been successful at every level of basketball, but he also is highly respected for his Christian character.

Opps...Nathan's record was 58 points in a 104-60 win over Livingston Academy, not 56. Another former PC player, Luke Mason will be his assistant. Nathan led PC to the state 3 times and Luke was also on a state tournament team.

Did yall win the state championship in any of those 3 appearances? If not, has PC ever won it all?

I tried to check the TSSAA site but it won't come up. I think the boys had a silver ball in 1994. The boys last went to the state in 2005. The girls last went about 5 years ago but are sure to go soon with their current players. With the young talent and with Nathan, the boys should be ready in a couple of years.

Those two are the only ones on the boys side. I believe they also were state runner ups in either 93 or 94. The girls have 5 gold. 1977,78,79,80 and 1989. Not sure on silvers with them.

Dang that was a very nice run from 77-80. As far as the boys go, hopefully yall will get back to what it once was. In 04-05 DC scrimmaged PC at Cookeville HS. Before the scrimmage when taking to us players, Coach Martin had the upmost respect for yalls program.

The program has remained good but not outstanding like it was. They were in the district championship this year and was down to Goodpasture by just 2 with 2 minutes to go in the half in the region semifinals. So, the program wasn't bad at all, PC fans are just spoiled having had so many great teams since the late 1980's! Everyone is excited again but realize going to the state again can't happen overnight.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
