With all due respect to those young ladies, district 9A is far from the best... It's actually not good at all. There are only two future NCAA D1 players that are currently in High School in that district and they are Sarah Pierce from Community and Caitlyn Yost from Forrest. The bottom teams in that conference are absolutely awful.

Lets not forget Ali Golden at Huntland, Ashlynd Wilkerson and Abby Buckner at Middle Tn Christian who all 3 are being recruited D-1. Yost is good but no better than these 3. This was a very young league this year with all of the teams being mostly Sophomores, if you will look at the records and who they played it was a much better league than you give it credit for. Don't forget that MTCS the number 4 team went to Houston County in the region and lost a close game. And those 2 eighth graders from Moore County can flat play.

Yost is quite a bit better than those 3 IMO..... What D1 schools are those 3 hearing from?

Having watched this district for a while this is how I would rate these players 1) Pierce, 2) Wilkerson, 3) Buckner, 4) Yost , 5) Golden, 6) Hawkins, 7) Mann . But this is just opinion. Yost and Pierce have the best supporting cast right now. Pierce and Wilkerson are sophs, Golden, Yost, and Buckner are Fr and Mann and Hawkins are 8th graders.

To turn this into something positive.... who are the best 8th graders in Tennessee?

1 player that will be a freshman, nothing in the current 7th grade, possibly 1 in the current 6th grade. 5th grade some possibilities, but a long, long way to go. Milan should be better this year, but it may not turn in to any more wins. Milan is several years from being competitive. Right now I do not see a program in place in the really younger grades to get competitive. With the merry-go-round of coaches, nothing can get setup. Better get started soon if they plan on being competitive within the next 10 years.

Macon county has an Eighth grader that will be good. About 6 ft . They also have a couple of 7th graders that can play. livingston has about two or three that are going to be good. (as  always). Smith has a couple of 7th graders that can play. See those girls in aau. Im sure there are a lot more than that but just havnt seen them.

I have to say once again Middle Tn will continue being strong in girls basketball!  Eleven of the best 8th graders play here for Tennessee Flight! Flight keeps producing players! Back to Back state champions! Just won state championship this past weekend. This same team finished 2nd in the AAU Nationals last year in Cincinnati. Future is bright.

Jordyn Cambride(Ensworth), Brinae Alexander(Smyrna),Twins Alexis & Amanda Whittington(Riverdale),Allie Mayeux(Riverdale), Maggie Knowles, Jaleah Goff(Blackman),Mya Fuller(Blackman)Kiera Downey(Ravenwood), Jeana Holt(Shelbyville) & Leah Parker(Livingston).  The crazy thing is Cambridge, Alexander and the Whittingtons all play on the top Flight Sophomore team as well!
