UCSportsFan
Jackson County also picked up a very good player from Cookeville. He will help them a lot, Isaac Phillips is his name and the young man can play.
sparkman
The Shrum brothers transferred back to Upperman. Also, Coach Heard left the program as well.

sparkman
Not coaching. Decided to devote time to family.
UpperCumberlandMan
Everyone knows 1a and 2a teams in the area are better at basketball than CHS. Clarkerange boys beat CHS lat season. Same as in football, a lot of maller area schools have better programs than CHS due mostly to politics.
THE SQUAD
hey Cookeville fans or alum why are all the Cookeville players jumping ship? what is going on over there? heard that payne transferred to goodpasture and shrum went to baxter. 90warrior I think the answer to your question is obvious in two words... Coach Brey. Yes 4 guys are transferring & a couple more really good players won't be coming back to stick with football only. That's a shame but no matter what they "say", they don't want you to play football & basketball at CHS. And rumor is that Coach Heard quit because Coach Brey had made statements that he would retire or step down after last season & Heard would be the heir apparent. Then he changed his mind. So now, not only do you have some of the best basketball players walking the halls during the winter, the best coach will be too. It's a shame what's going on. You're right about the basketball but tell me all of these smaller schools in the area that have better football programs than Cookeville? I might give you Livingston since they won the state fairly recently, but they went 3-7 last year. Say what you want about Cookeville's district being weak, but they've been to the playoffs 14 years in a row, and 18 of the last 19. NOBODY else in our area can make that claim. This oughta be good... Edited August 10, 2014 by THE SQUAD
Alumn89
The Squad has no idea what is going on , he is throwing out laughable rumors. Pretty much nothing of what you said is remotely close to true. You don't even know how to spell coach BRAY'S name right. You are a great fiction writer though. Everyone knows 1a and 2a teams in the area hate CHS because they are a bigger school/ better 80% of the time. Yep, Clarkrange did beat them twice last year I agree. And they shouldn't have. Just outplayed them (didn't have 2 starters in second game at home). But that is just an excuse. So tired of all the smaller schools yapping like that when in reality, if this was a true "Upper Cumberland District" in all sports, Cookeville would win 80% of those district titles year in and year out.
