That was a great run. We will say that coaching determined several close games in 9AAA last year and I expect that to be the case again this year. Hendersonville wasn't the most talented team in the district last year, but put everything together when it counted.

This years hendersonville team could be the most talented.

HOW DID HENDERSON MAKE IT TO THE FINALS??? OR WAS MURIVILL THAT GOOD AGAINST THE WINGT...

My Guess.

1. Hendersonville

2. SC

3. Gallatin

4. Beech

5. MJ

6. Lebanon

7. WC

8. Portland

I think Lebanon is most likely to pull an upset of a team ranked above them.  SC could win regular season because of talent.  This is their last chance to go very far in the play-offs for several seasons (I believe).  MJ is just a complete unknown.  Was last year a "bump" or a complete "sink hole?" Time will tell.

I think it was a "bump", but agree, time will tell. SC will have a lot of talent, but also lost a lot. SC has struggled to win the close/big games (Beech on ESPN and Hendersonville in the playoffs). I think the "pucker factor" may come into play.

I don't think Gallatin is a better team than MJ or Beech... but I could be wrong.

Congrats to Taye Davis of LHS at RB, Tre Malone of SC at RB, Carson Garrett of Beech at K, and Braden Schwerdt of Hville at DB for being chosen preseason All-state by Murphy Fair in 5-AAA and 6-AAA. Thought Anderton and Banks should have been on there also.

So you would have chosen Anderton over Jauan Jennings? Banks is legit, but those are 3 pretty good backs in front of him, 2 of which have committed to Georgia Tech and Tennessee

In the age of the term "athlete" Murphy should have added a category, probably where Anderton should be. For those who have seen Anderton play basketball you know what I mean. Don't believe that either he or Jennings ultimately ends up at QB in college.

I think Hendersonville does well this year but they always have their best playoff runs when they under achieve in the season. I'll go

1 HHS

2 station camp

3 Gallatin (only because of banks)

4 mj* (not sure if they can keep chowbay on the field to make this happen)

5 beech* (lost too much talent)

6 wc * (only because Lebanon doesn't have the depth or o line)

7 Portland/Lebanon tied for last place

* If mj loses chowbay to anything I will move them to 6 and move up the other two teams.

    • I think they will find a good back, maybe not a Dozier, but I think one that can do the job. Same way with the receivers. I think Coach Rang is an excellent judge of talent from what I have seen and he will put the best players on the field.  As for the indoor facility, I hope there are plans down the road, I know in the new world of wide open recruiting, facilities matter. I was very glad to see the nice updates to the track facilities by the way, track has always been a big part of ORHS Athletics, as the poster said, going back to the track championships in the 50s and 60s, A lot of football players run track and it helps them become faster and quicker in the fall.
    • Yea, they have Davey quaking in his boots. Someday they'll even have a winning season.
    • Guessing this may have been the closest I can think of...... Bill Harlow: (from wiki) After leaving OSU, Harlow went on to win three national titles in freestyle wrestling.  He won a silver medal at the 1970 World Wrestling Championships, falling to Soviet Gennady Strakhov in the finals at 90 kg.
    • The Simpson brothers had good freestyle careers.
