Hutch is smart not playing many games early on due to football. Our coach Joel Kirk learned that the hard way last year.

In terms of what Alcoa has returning, I'm kinda lost myself. Teeter is the only starter back. Garrett Anderson wasn't a full time starter but won several games for us. That said, he was either red hot or ice cold behind the arc, and I hope his defense has improved.

The McClurg twins are back. Ryan Clark, a 6'7" junior (also plays football), can be good if he's aggressive, but I just didn't see that last year.

I guess it's too early for me to criticize Joel Kirk's coaching job. All I can hope is that he learned some lessons last year.

We did too lol

Alcoa, you have a very good, up and coming freshman in Tykee Kellogg, about 6'4" - has played a ton of high level AAU in the Southeast.

That'll be a good addition. He also plays football though, so we likely won't get him til December. I just wonder how much impact he'll make given that he's a freshman. Then again, Mike Hutchens and Catholic know ALL about playing freshmen.

I don't know your team that well since the good ole Alcoa/Stone Memorial battles from a few years back.  Tykee should help you as a freshmen; he has been playing against some of the best in the country this summer - he's creative down low and has really improved his outside shooting - knocked down a lot of 3's in a recent tournament in Augusta, GA last month.   Three kids from Aloca (Tykee)/Webb/Austin East and one from Crossville joined a group from Atlanta and won the 8th Grade division of a tourney down there during the Nike Peach Jam.  He needs to improve that vertical for a kid his size.  Great kid and family though, if he keeps improving - he's a D1 prospect.

I hope he can make an impact as a freshman like you're saying, given how much we lost to graduation. And those Alcoa/Stone Memorial games were always fun to watch. I think we play only once this year.

With the McClurg twins and and Clark, you'll have some bodies in the post. Teeter is so athletic he creates a mismatch no matter who guards him.  Alcoa will be in the hunt for the district title.

Our best rebounder and post defender (Tony Scott) is only 6'2 but plays bigger then his size he will benefit the most from having Luke Smith back. They've played AAU together for 7 years now. Jordan Anderson returning will help as well. What people forget is his rebounding, he averaged 8 rpg as a sophomore. The wildcard is Amari Rodgers he fit right in with guys and gave the Irish another weapon. But Alcoa has size and matching up to Teeter will be difficult. You can't ignore CAK either. Cole Smith can play. They got a 6'5 transfer from Sevier County and then Shane Wells is a really good coach. This will be an exciting year.

Yes it will be. The district could really go 3 different ways this year.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
