Remember this name. Phillip Haynes Jr. He's the son of University of Memphis (then Memphis State) 1980's basketball 'bank-shot' master Phillip "DOOM" Haynes. He's a 6'-5", 325 lb., SOLID, NOT FLABBY. two-way senior lineman for District 16-AA, Manassas (3A) High School.

It seems, according to the article written by John Varlas in the Commercial Appel (see link below), that Mr. Haynes has made a huge impression over the summer with the local (Ole Miss, Miss State) SEC schools at their summer camps. According to the aritcle. Miss State has the inside track.

I'm going to keep an eye on this young man.

Manassas lineman Phillip Haynes Jr. has a famous name, but he's playing his own game

(I haven't seen this article listed on Coacht)

Phillip Haynes Jr.'s Junior Year HUDL highlights

I haven't seen that many pancakes since my last visit to IHOP. The young man definately has the makings of a good LT with those quick feet that he posses.

I'm not so sure that there is a big injustice in the picks this year, but LC not have a player nominated last year and that was a travesty. LC went 13-1 and went to the semis last year and didn't have a preseason or postseason all state player last season. needless to say I don't put a lot of stock in these picks.

uhs had 1 on the preseason, 3 in post season. So I don't know if the big city thing matters. Problen for UHS is the overall talent level went way down after those 3. LC probably had a more balanced team and played stiffer competion during the regular season and not able to put of the numbers of UHS'ss weaker schedule. I would have loved to see UHS and Lewis played. My guess LC 31-28.

    • Yep..could possibly have 3 teams ranked in top ten in the same four team district.
    • He had an opportunity to be the OC at TC without final say in the offensive gameplan. How does that work? Smh. Head Coaches are public figures regardless of the community size, and yes there are some out there, it’s irrelevant and not fair to them to name them on here. Also why is said “head coach” the head coach of the MS baseball program to begin with? Oh because no one wants it. As for the Lebanon question, I know what I’ve been told so just going off here say, some of the boosters were not happy with his roster decisions and wanted him out. Although he lead them to 20+ wins in multiple seasons
    • A head coach in the school system? No I dont think so. Head coaches are public figures in small communities. Not trying to slander, but this is an actual question. Do you know why he was forced to resign at Lebanon? This was his second chance.  He already left trousdale once and had an opportunity to come back a couple of years ago but spoiled that.
    • Are you perfect? Nope no one is, at the end of the day there are several teachers/coaches and even some in the Trousdale County school system that have DUI’s on their record. You’re correct on it being a bad mistake and it unfortunately could have ended horribly. While you consider the consequences minimal, I can assure you they are not. Ultimately I hope and have faith that he will learn from it and use it to better himself.
