wildcatalumni
Trousdale co would more than likely play up, if im not mistaken they are playing up right nowNo they are in 2A. They will be in 1A next year along with MtP, Huntingdon, and McKenize. Those teams are considered 2A now. No one os playing up. They are just small 2A schools and the larger ones are gonna be with 3A schools. Like Lewis co. Milan, and even Alcoa. I'm sure Alcoa will play up. wildcat89
And with football starting up, it may hurt their baseball and basketballThats what I've said all along. Won't be no more year round baseball practices if they are going to be serious about football.

gtripledip
Nope. Why can't student athletic play football, baseball and basketball in high school. The seasons are at different times. No need to "specialize" in one particular sport.

No need to "specialize" in one particular sport. They do but summertown has never had a football program until about three years ago and won't play a varsity schedule until next year so all their boys played baseball and practiced it year round and they had a top notch program. Some of us think their baseball program will suffer due to splitting time with football and dealing with injuries.
Monkey Wrench
Why can't student athletic play football, baseball and basketball in high school. The seasons are at different times. No need to "specialize" in one particular sport. I think the purpose of that statement was, since they didn't have football, through the fall they could focus solely on basketball, or baseball ( or maybe even both) but thats a full summer + fall to train for seasons later in year. Summertown seems to be pretty good at every sport they do, so my guess is they will put in the effort in football - but it is silly to expect prob the first 5-6 years of varsity to be very good. They don't have the athletes say, signal mountain did when their school opened.

No need to "specialize" in one particular sport.I never said they couldn't.... I was a three sport athlete until my junior year and basketball cut into my baseball time. Monkey wrench expanded on what I was tryin to say. I just figured everyone would understand, but I also believe that it will be harder for them to be good year in and year out in baseball and basketball. I mean it's hard to be a 3 sport athlete and in S'town they take their basketball and baseball serious. If, like 89 said, they wanna take their football serious. I believe some will have to give one up. I'm not hating on them, it's just gonna be interesting to see it develop. will they stay good or not....?
