TennesseeStud2013.... classic DB screen name. This guy doesn't realize that DB is sadly playing for (at best) a district championship in North East Tennessee year after year after year after year after year...  as long as the Great Wall of Blount County is firmly in place in the 6A division. No wonder they constantly hijack all the local threads to pat themselves on the back. After all they have won more games than any other program in the state of TN. I guess it really doesn't matter that none of those MANY games have been a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. I mean... who needs a GOLD BALL to be a respected program?? :roflolk:

What kind of work do need to work on.

Work on?      Seriously?     Here is how this series has looked the last 5 years:

2013: 48-6

2012: 43-0

2011: 63-0

2010: 42-0

2009: 37-0

DB should pull the starters after the 1st quarter and get them rested up for the long road trip to Sevier County.

Did someone say hijack ? This is the last chance Volunteer has to revisit the glory days of about thirty years ago when coach Watson had them standing equal with the Tribe.Watched the 2009 classic against South last night, what a game DS and Chris had with coach Watson on the Indian sidelines.About half the team got the flu a day or two later .As for the game this week.Id hope there will be no revisit except for the last several one-sided DB wins.

Sevier County is going to be the toughest game on the DB schedule.

Classic ignorance "cap" .. we will still stand proud of db at the end of each season !! We proved already no matter what conference they put us in we still win ! Gold balls or not the kids we produce/produced that's playing and has played d1 and nfl football can say one thing "Its just not about football , its being a good man in life " !! We dont eat sleep breath championships like some schools , we eat sleep and breath on tradition and being proud !! So you can say all you want because you don't know DB ! And about them gold balls , well... u might just be eating your words in the next few years , simply !

How about that fake national title plaque in the trophy case y'all have.Cause they didn't win it on the field,it was voted on.How many Gold balls do y'all have VOTED on or WON ON THE FIELD?..Just saying,to me I think it makes a person sound like a FOOL talking about someone not winning something,When there team ain't winning nothing. But y'all are the BEST TEAM IN BRISTOL,Beating them POWERFUL BEARCATS almost every yr!😃ðŸ‘

    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
