It is amazing how many folks on here think their team is better than the record indicates.

The talent is a bit more evenly distributed in the NFL than it is in high school. If a single A team that's 2-2 has loses to a 3A school and 4A school. They might very well be equal or better to a single A school who has only played other single A schools that is 4-0.

Sure in the NFL I would agree but not in high school football. Some teams play up some teams play down. Seen more than one upper east tn team go into the playoffs 10-0 only to run into the talent of Alcoa or others. Their record lied. Sorry

I agree that the NFL is more even. 

 

I don't agree that therefore the quote is irrelevant to HS. It's very relevant.

I have to disagree also,creeker made the point well!Some schools cant get their classification teams to schedule a game so the have to play up and it hurts their record but doesnt really tell the tale of how good they are in their respectfull classification.

Forrest did that exact thing. We played a AAA school in Alabama. Hung tough for a half then got our doors blown off. Literally. No cars going back to TN had doors. None.  35-7 final. We were awful in the 2nd half and our record reflects that loss.

 

Forrest has since beaten a AAA in Cascade, pretty soundly, and will be tooth and nail with a AAAA school, Page, in about 10 days. It's humans vs. humans folks.

And the quote itself was made in a little bit different context.  He wasn't just saying, "we are 4-0, so we are as good as Union City."

It's hard when the school is on the border of Tennessee like Copper Basin is 3-4 non region games are out of state teams and it'll probably always be that way.

Let me give you an example why your quote is irrelevant. 3-1 Alcoa would destroy 3-1 Copper Basin. CB is having a great year but their record being the same as Alcoa doesn't reflect that they are just as good. Not even close.

You have to compare by classification(IMO) in high school football
