I'll get the ball rolling this week.

AC wins big with more depth, size, and talent over an improving Halls team. 42-7

CC has been struggling on offense the last couple of games but a Karns defense is just the cure for that. CC wins 41-17

Oak Ridge is firing on all cylinders at the right time of the year. OR rolls 56-7

Powell's kids have been playing their hearts out and never giving up, but things won't get any better this week with a better than ave Gibbs defense coming to town. Gibbs wins 42-0

Clinton travels out of district this week to face a Sequoyah team that pretty much had their way with the dragons last year. Its payback time for Clinton. Dragons win 35-14

AC: 49-7 (AC is just too strong upfront for Halls)

CC: 38-28 (CC has too much offense for Karns to keep up with but I do think it will be closer than most believe. Karns may sneak a couple of rushing TD's on CC if they are able to get on the outside)

OR: 42-14 (OR is just too much in every postion for Central)

Gibbs: 42-7 (Gibbs offense has shown improvement and have seemed to open the playbook up a little more. Gibbs is in must win mode. I look for them to throw everything they have at powell in the first half and get the starters out of the game early)

Clinton: 28-24 (Sequoyah is a physically strong team with lots size everywhere. I got a chance to watch them against gibbs this summer and IMO had took a step back from last year. With all things equal, speed kills.)

Sequoyah was an experienced team last year with 20 seniors. They have taken a step back imo. They are about a 90% run 10% pass team this year. They have only passed for 155 yards so far.

I think Clinton's defense matches up with them pretty well. But Clinton needs to show up ready to play and make a statement early on.

I agree 92. Gibbs was able to break 3-4 40 plus yard rushes on them. I'm sure with the speed of Clintons backfield there should be a few big plays that goes the distance.

The reason I Think this one will be close is because Sequoyah does have the ability to pound a team between the tackles and milk the clock.

    • The only thing that was said at half time of the 45-0 game was Coach Story, he said: "I know y'all have been out there a lot, but kick-off team, y'all need to get down there faster!" Then he and the other coaches proceeded to go into the coaches office and we all went nuts!  It was the only time I can ever remember coaches not saying anything at half time. Definitely a great memory!!!

    • When Danny was a senior he was the quarterback on the 82 team and also the placeholder on extra points. At the end of the game Heritage scored a touchdown with very little time left and went ahead 9-0. On the following extra point Danny rose up and threw a perfect pass to one of his receivers which made it 11-0 and Heritage's first win against Maryville since the series started in 77. Maryville fans were highly ticked off because they felt like it was rubbing salt in the wound. The following year when both teams met again at Maryville  the Rebels ran away with the game and after the first couple of touchdowns they went for two points after each score for a pay back and the score was 45-0 at halftime. The following Monday Bob Gilbert the sports eiditor for the local paper bashed Maryville in an article called the Humilation of Teenagers and tore into Maryville even though he was a graduate of the school. Those were the good ole days when Heritage had decent teams and the rivalry between them and Maryville was a fun event to see.
