CoachT
This particular thread is for Class A only. Once again I, and other media members, need your recommendations for Mr. Football lineman and back from each classification as well as kicker from all classes. As always, positive recommendations are expected and negative comments should be avoided. We want to know you want, not who you do not want. Here are the instructions I received today: --------------- For the eighth consecutive year, the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards are being underwritten by a generous grant from the Tennessee Titans Foundation. The TSSAA is very appreciative of the generosity of the Titans’ organization for their financial support of these awards and for its wide-ranging support of student-athletes across our state. Thirty-three finalists will again be honored at this year’s awards luncheon. This group is to include three finalists for Mr. Football Lineman of the Year and three finalists for Mr. Football Back of the Year in each classification (Class A, AA, and AAA in Division I and Class A and AA in Division II). There will be three finalists, regardless of classification, for the Mr. Football Kicker of the Year award. They are to be selected via a vote of football coaches and selected members of the media. The winners of the coveted award are to receive the distinguished Mr. Football trophy with the other finalists being presented plaques. These outstanding individuals and their schools are to be recognized along with their parents and coaches at the prestigious Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Luncheon, scheduled Monday, December 1 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center in Murfreesboro. Each of the designated media outlets, of which you are one, is asked to submit the name of up to three players in each classification for the Mr. Football Lineman of the Year Award and the Mr. Football Back of the Year Award. You are also asked to submit three players, regardless of classification, for the Mr. Football Kicker of the Year award. It is not necessary to vote for three players in each category, but that is your option. If you feel an individual player is one of the top three players in both categories, then you may list him in both. In order for your ballot to be counted, it must be submitted no later than FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31. Please help honor Tennessee’s finest by responding today. ---------------------

horse
I think the coaches should vote on this award instead of media. Coaches see these players more than media. They watch film on them and coach against them. West Tn coaches recommend players from their classification. Top 3 should be picked.Middle and east do the same. The schools of the players make a high lite film put it on U-tube for coaches to watch. All coaches would would have 19 players in there classification to choose from including the kicker. And do it when season was over.

bluedevil6913
Grant Jenkins is a really good Class A kicker from Harriman. Doesn't get many 3 point tries, but knocks them down when he does. Very consistent kicking punts and kickoffs too. Not sure on stats. PurplePower68
As a Marion fan I would love to see Zeman in the mix but with the coach limiting his playing time to keep him fresh his numbers aren't as gaudy as soph and junior years. Our kicker is pretty good too. Missed one extra point (and we kick a LOT of extra points) and has hit every field goal he has attempted (maybe 6 or 7) with a long of 43. 90% of kickoffs are touch backs which is pretty good in high school. Not many 2A schools have the special teams we are blessed with. With a place kicker that can do all that and then have a punter who averages 46 yds a punt. That's stout.
