For the purposes of Division I Football Classification, the following schools have notified the state office they wish to move up:

Class 2A to 3A

Alcoa High School

Goodpasture Christian School

Class 3A to 4A

Memphis East High School

Lipscomb Academy

Class 4A to 5A

Clinton High School

Gibbs High School

Kirby High School

Class 5A to 6A

Maryville High School

With Maryville High School requesting to move up to Class 6A, LaVergne High School they agreed moved to Class 5A.

Interesting that Clinton and Gibbs asked to move up. Are these requests automatically granted?

Schools have always been allowed to play up. Greeneville and Alcoa did it for years. Looks like a few teams are trying avoid Catholic and Fulton.

Hopefully AC keeps Clinton, Oak Ridge, and Campbell County on the schedule.

I would not schedule AC if I were CC anymore.

I wonder how hard they had to twist Lavergne's arm to convince them to move down.

With Maryville High School requesting to move up to Class 6A, LaVergne High School they agreed moved to Class 5A.

 

I wounder how hard they had to twist Lavergne's arm to convince them to move down.

 

It probably went like this.

 

"Hello Coach Stephens this is Berny from TSSAA....."

 

Coach Stevens interupts, "Yes, absolutely, thank you sir"

How will the split up Middle Tenn. Teams?

 

To keep schools in the same county together, they could do this.

 

Cookeville, Lebanon, Wilson Central, Mt. Juliet, McGavock, Antioch, Overton and Warren County

 

and

 

Oakland, Blackman, Riverdale, Siegel, Smyrna, Ravenwood, Franklin, and Coffee County
