slick1
How you think this new classification will help Shelby County and Western Tn. in their continual sucess in winning State Championships in basketball? The Memphis area has been strong for years and the double AA schools in rural West Tn., have started to become a bit successful in recent years. While on the girls side rural West Tn. has been a force to be reckon with for years with the new classifications do you think this will make this part of the state stronger in boys and girls hoop or do you all think it will make us weaker? Everyone's opinions are welcomed
BigBoy10
I think the new classification is only going to be for football at this point.
slick1
OK thanks Big Boy10.... I was assuming and I have been told never to do that the changes were across the board. I guess that is how it is now isn't it?
ecu
They need to make the changes across the board but it will not happen until 4 year period is up.
BigBoy10
From what I understand, the BCAT (Basketball Coaches Association of TN) is working on a proposal to submit to TSSAA to move to six classes for basketball also. BCAT polled all the coaches who attended their clinic in Sept. and it was almost unanimous among the coaches to move to 6 classes and to split public and private schools. Whether or not the TSSAA will do anything about it remains to be seen... but that is what the coaches want.
slick1
BigBoy10 that sounds like a great idea and this would be much easier for the fans to comprehend at least it would be for me. I don't like all of the sports having a different set of playoff rules.
silverpie
There will be a few changes in the non-football sports based on 20% enrollment shifts. (In the West, Henry County and Millington drop to AA, and Westwood to A.)

silverpie
Pure guess on my part, but I'm predicting Millington decides to stay AAA (just like playing up at a full reclass).
