6A, Quad 4 Projections

As of October 25, 2014, the TSSAA website has the following schools listed as possible play-off teams, if the season were to start today, which is Monday, October 27, 2014. The website lists the teams thusly:

Class: 6A Natural Quad: 4 Teams: Arlington, Collierville, Germantown, Houston, Mem. Central, White Station, Whitehaven

Taking this information into account you see that there are only seven teams listed. Now, projecting the Week 10 games I've come up with the following list of teams after the Week 10 games have been played (Projected end-of-season records):

(Note that Germantown will be eliminated from the play-offs because of their 4-6 record)

Seed ... Record ... District ... P/O Seeding Decider ... Name of School

... 1 ...... 10-0 ........ 16 .................... D/W ................... Whitehaven

... 2 ...... . 8-2 ........ 14 .................... D/W ................... Arlington

... 3 ...... . 9-1 ........ 15 .................... R/U ................... Houston

... 4 ...... . 7-3 .......... 9 .................... R/U ................... Rossview*

... 5 ...... . 7-3 ........ 16 .................... W/C ................... Mem. Central

... 6 ...... . 7-3 ........ 15 .................... W/C ................... Collierville

... 7 ...... . 6-4 ........ 11 .................... W/C ................... Independence*

... 8 ...... . 5-5 ........ 16 .................... W/C ................... White Station

I think Independence at 6-4, will push out a 5-5 Battlett team, who's SOC isn't as impressive as a 5-5 White Station. Which means the playoff brackets will look like this in the first round:

(Should Quad 3 not push two teasm west, then my scenerio isn't correct)

Top Half of Bracket in Quad 4

1) Whitehaven hosts 8) White Station

4) Rossview hosts 5) Memphis Central

Bottom Half of Bracket in Quad 4

3) Houston hosts 6) Collierville

2) Arlington hosts 7) Independence

*= based upon projected final record and geographical location.

I think this will likely be what Quad 4 in 6A will look like come the first week of the play-offs.

If the above post were to happen and I'm Memphis Central traveling to play Rossview in Clarksville, Which route would I take to get there the fastest?

Do I take I-40 to Jackson, and then drive through Milan and Paris to get to Clarksville? Or, should I just ride I-40 to Nashville and swing around on Briley Pkwy to get to I-24 and then on to Clarksville that way? Or, is it better to just taking State Hwy 79 from Memphis to Clarksville?

Using David Limbaugh's projections AND predicting that Whte Station beats Melrose, then we have the following scenerio:

(Note that Germantown will be eliminated from the play-offs because of their 4-6 record)

Seed ... Record ... District ... P/O Seeding Decider ... Name of School

... 1 ...... 10-0 ........ 16 .................... D/W ................... Whitehaven

... 2 ...... . 8-2 ........ 14 .................... D/W ................... Arlington

... 3 ...... . 9-1 ........ 15 .................... R/U ................... Houston

... 4 ...... . 7-3 .......... 9 .................... R/U ................... Rossview*

... 5 ...... . 7-3 ........ 16 .................... W/C ................... Mem. Central

... 6 ...... . 7-3 ........ 15 .................... W/C ................... Collierville

... 7 ...... . 5-5 ........ 16 .................... W/C ...................White Station

... 8 ...... . 5-5 ........ 14 .................... W/C ................... Bartlett

According to DL, Independence will be in Quad 3 making room for a 5-5 Bartlett team in Quad 4. However,  a 5-5 Battlett team, who's SOC isn't as impressive as a 5-5 White Station team makes them, Bartlett, the lower seed. Which means the playoff brackets will look like this in the first round:

Top Half of Bracket in Quad 4

1) Whitehaven hosts 8) Bartlett

4) Rossview hosts 5) Memphis Central

Bottom Half of Bracket in Quad 4

3) Houston hosts 6) Collierville

2) Arlington hosts 7) White Station

*= based upon projected final record and geographical location.

The worst/longest of those you listed is going all the way to Nashville then coming back toward Clarksville. Coming through Milan and Paris wouldn't be bad as the roads have been upgraded. But likely the best/shortest way is to get across the river and take the Linden exit (near Waverly) and go North to Clarksville. Its a winding road, but seems to be the shortest route.

As part of the Whitehaven Faithful this first round match up would be much more favorable...

Yes sir. I-40 to Hwy 13 (Linden Exilt, The Loretta Lynn Exit) is the route I take from Memphis when I visit Clarksville. It's the fastest as you can drive between 60-80 MPH non-stop.

Going up through Jackson (Hwy 79), Miles wise, is the shortest distance BUT the road conditions and the FACT that there are places that you have to drive between 30-35 MPH in those small towns I say bump going that route.

First off, I am Rooting for Melrose to beat White Station but I doubt they do. With that said, That could realistically be Whitehaven's Toughest game in the area. No disrespect to Houston or Arlington. White Station's familiarity is just troublesome to the Tigers.

BHS, I feel where you are coming from but I'm of the opinion that it doesn't matter who we face. It's the play-offs and we will play whoever. I know this ... the guys remember last year's lost to White Station in the 2nd round and you better believe that won't happen again. To be honest, I kind of think that some of the guys WANT to play them again. I think our guys WANT the tough teams ... and you KNOW they want to redeem themselves from last year's game.

I think this post season is going to real interesting.

As a Whitehaven faithful, this seems appealing ... but I think the team is in the 'Bring'em On!' mode. We fans look at potential match-ups and would like to play what we would deem a weaker first round team. The team doesn't think that way however, and I like that. Doesn't matter to them who they face ... you remember that mindset you get in ... that ... "Let's Do This!" way of thinking. They have a championship on their mind.

That's all i'm really concerned about. How are JW, Myles, Laderrial, Josh and EJ leading the team now? What is their mindset? I know the coaches will be feeding them gunpowder. For all intents and purposes ... it's play-off time at The Haven ... TCB!

Thanks Drew. I've made the drive to Paris before and I took I-40 to Jackson and then went through Milan. I would think that is the best route, but I've only made that drive twice. When i'm driving from city to city I prefer to travel the interstate when ever possible. I don't like traveling the state highways when I can avoid them. But, I've also discovered that a lot of the state highways have been improved and widened in a lot of cases.

Even though traveling to Nashville is out of the way, I might do it if I were making the drive because I would just prefer not driving through small towns and stop lights if I can avoid them.

That's just me though.
