ecu
Who is the team to beat this year?
mc20dad
I think it will be Fayetteville City, with MTCS, Community, and Forrest losing key players. After that hard to tell what team will have players step up to replace them.
nobullyankee
I suspect Eagleville will be very solid as well. From what I saw in the spring they have some size and some depth. I would still say that Fayetteville City has to be the favorite to win the district though.
Hornet1
I am a little bias but I think my Hornets will have a good year with them returning the majority of their starters from last year. Huntland underachieving in the district tourney last year. Hopefully the returning players learned you have to bring it every night.
nobullyankee
I read in the Shelbyville paper that Community has been playing without 3 starters. Are they injured? When will they be returning?
clarkgriswold
Yes 3 were injured in football. Playing only 1 that played a lot last year. They are very young and inexperienced but they play really hard and are getting better each game. They were down 5 at halftime at Cascade tonight and shot very poorly. Cascade made a nice run to start the 4th quarter to stretch the lead out. Has been a tough schedule for a very young team so far. I think they are a year away from being very competitive again but when injured players get back they may cause some teams problems. Hats off to cascade on a well played game. Good luck to all 9A teams.
ecu
FC would have to be the favorite with Eagleville not far behind. After that it will be a dog fight for 3rd. Community will be much better when Pride and Simmons return. They also have a 6'5 transfer from MTCS who should be eligible soon. Forrest always manages to be a factor. MTCS will be better than most expect after losing all their starters from the Spears team. MC and Huntland will be fighting to get in mix. nobullyankee
Sounds like we will have a very competitive district this year full of very close games. Everything gets under way this Tuesday because I believe MTCS visits Huntland. It sounds as if Fayetteville City, Eagleville, Forest, and MTCS seem to be the consensus front runners for those all important top 4 spots, and the possibility of maybe Huntland making some noise after an underachieving tourney last year. I just want to wish everyone in 9A good luck this year, but most of all I hope that all the teams have an injury free season!!!

Varo
First night with a full slate of district games....who are your favorites? Huntland @ Fayetteville City Eagleville @ Forrest Community @ Moore Co Fayetteville City had an impressive showing last night, defeating the visiting Huntland Hornets 85-63. Leading the whole game, at one point it got to a thirty point lead. All but one of the starting five sat out the whole fourth quarter. Good start for district play. Challenging game this Friday when Moore Co. comes to the City, can't wait!
nobullyankee
Not sure Fayetteville City will have a challenging district game at all this year. Now of course anyone can be beat on any given night, but the stars will have to be aligned just right for any team to pull off the upset!!! It will be interesting to see who steps up in the district and gives them a scare.
