sportslover88
What are your opinions on this year's team? I was impressed with them only losing to South Side by 6 and beating Dyer Co as strongly as they did while having one of their best players in Justin Johnson sitting on the bench. This team is loaded with athletes that can play and others that can shoot lights out.
slick1
I saw that in the paper today, still early the season but I bet DC was just as surprised as you were. Was this game played in Martin or Newbern, if you won in Newbern then this is definitely a impressive victory. With it being so young let's just sit back and watch and see how everyone is doing for a min. I am not a big Fan of DC and definitely do not keep up with what they are doing. Perhaps they were a little off in their recruiting last year...... ?
mrbigster
Lake Co played Westview in the jamboree at Newbern and they have some great athletes. Also saw Dyer Co play South Fulton and several people at work asked me about Dyer Co.I told them Dyer Co has some talent. But would be a good Single A team. Not any size and won, t be like the old Dyer Co teams from the past several seasons.Westview would beat Dyer Co probably 8 or 9 times out of 10 this year in my opinion.Westview only has 1 senior I believe so going to be a team to contend with
slick1
Really a good single A team, things must be down in Choctaw land... They better get things up because they have some great games scheduled especially in the Penny Hardaway tournament...... Those teams coming in are some of the best in all the land, they don't want to be embarassed. I am sure McCord and company will have t heme ready by then. I know DC beat KIngsburg (Memphis) handily last week and with them being from Memphis I assume they were probably pretty tough. I do know that their (DC) girls team will be one of the best AAA teams in the area and they are expecting great things out of them. Oh well not my problem good luck to all teams and stay healthy. I am waiting to see what the Trojans men and lady teams are putting on the floor this year. I am hoping that we are competitive.
mrbigster
I know Dyer Co beat Raliegh Egypt pretty handidly but don't think Dyer Co will be among the elite. If this team was in District 14a the past severalbseasons, think they would have finished 4th bebind Union City, Humbolt and Lake Co.Now if they were in District 14 A this year, thlink they would finish behind Union City and fight fk r 2nd with probably Gibson Co, Lake Co , South Fulton, Humbolt maybe.Probably would give a slight edge to Dyer Co for the 2nd spot.Dont see them beating Westview at all this season, or any of the elite teams that are their size.Dyer Co girls are a different story this year.Gonna be a hard team to beat,Been A long time when Dyer co and their fans had to watch a team pull their starters in the 4th quarter, Can bet Coach Mccord wasn't too happy. Will be surprised if some teams don't run up the score if given a chance as to how Dyer Co has done the past several seasons by pressing the entire game when games were over by halftime Edited November 20, 2014 by mrbigster
slick1
Yes, also remember that Dyer Co. will be contributing in AAA, I think their district is composed of Brighton, Munford and Hardin County..... Must smaller district and the teams are probably not as tough until we pull in the Memphis group.

You're leaving Halls out of the top picks. I believe they're going to impress a lot of people, and change some minds.
sportslover88
Westview will be tested next Tuesday against Haywood Co. That should be a good game at Haywood!
BallerReview
We're never really a threat on the boys side at GC, but I was very impressed with Westview. They have players at all 5 spots and I don't believe their post played due to a prior ejection. I dread seeing them with him in there. I like the way the tall kid (Sam) plays and seems to be the floor leader. He created a lot of shots and opportunities against us and he has a pretty shot as well. GC is still growing, but I expect WV to be better than last year. They just seem to be a lot more under control this year and controlled the tempo of the game. If we hadn't made some pretty deep shots early, that game could ve gotten ugly early. I expect Westview will see some dunking this year..they got some jumpers. What grade is the Jones kid in? He has gotten a lot better it seems.

You, re right Slick.Didnt know until talking to a lical coach today that Westview beat Dyer Co eithout maybe their best player and big man who got into an altercation at Crockett Co that this coach attended and had to sit out against Dyer Co..Maybe that region will help them
yankees8589
Speaking of DC. Ya'll see that sweet ride Hubs rolling in, new Camarro I think. Doesn't the old man drive a newer, if not new Benz? Good stuff right there I tell ya.
