Oak Ridge/Science Hill & DB

A very young albeit good OR team travels up to NE TN this weekend to play both SH/DB both pretty good teams. I don't expect us to win both of these games on a long trip against 2 good quality teams, but I hope in the end it's a great learning experience for our boys. How does everybody see these games going? DB/SH fans feel free to chime in and give me some quality insight on these two historically top notch basketball programs.

I don't really know much about DB this year but I know they beat the Toppers in double OT a few weeks back. I also know they lost a few players from last year's team to transfer. Same with Science Hill. Science Hill's team is just now starting to gel as a unit and are playing pretty well. They are a good 3 pt shooting team. You've got to keep your eye on Garrison Brown and Peyton Wingate. Those two are great 3 pt shooters. Malik McGue can get hot at any given time. He's averaging between 10-20 a game. They've also got two pretty good sophomores, Nate Jackson and Bowden Lyons. They're not a big team but they're quick and athletic and they can force a lot of turnovers with their defense.

Imagine how good they would be with the transfers they have had out of there the past few years? Scary to think about. Last time we played SH up there we lost. I went to that game 2 years ago. Not sure if any of the guys on that team play on the one now, but they were pretty tough. We beat them last year and beat DB twice this past year with one of those being in the sub-state. I always expect a battle from both of those teams when we play them win or lose. OR isn't as good as they were last year YET because they're so young (losing Henderson & Merian hurt a lot), but the kids we have now have more upside than those past teams it's just a matter of them maturing and getting a lot of playing time. Next year we should be very very good. This OR team is nothing to snuff at though, we are 12-0 for a reason.

Yeah there's no question in my mind that had the Toppers not lost the players they have to transfer they would probably be competing at state this year. Losing talent like Good, Coleman and Martin hurt them, especially Good. They're a fairly young team and they just don't have a lot of experience playing together. That's why I said they are just now starting to gel as a team. They played the first few games of the season without the football players which also hurt. I know McGue hasn't played in the last 3-4 games either due to football commitments. Players are starting to find their roles though and I think they could be pretty good by the end of the season. They'll get better as the season goes along. I won't get to see them play OR this weekend but good luck to both teams. Should be a good game.

No doubt buddy. Well, thanks for your input. Best wishes to SH.

With Science Hill's better players at David Crockett, and the talent at D-B isn't what they're use too, I can see Oak Ridge sweeping both games. Be prepared for a lot of charges being called by their association up there.

I will take oak ridge in both games. Green will shorten his rotation to his best 15 players and they should pull it out. Lol. Seriously tho, I see him going just 8-9 in this game. The others only see action if the games get out of control.

What about greens scheduling? He playing everyone that he will have to get by to reach state. What a schedule. It's not a Bahamas or Florida trip as in years past or Arby's, but it's a who's who of Tennessee teams on their schedule.

You SH/DB guys are in for a treat watching this team. Get used to seeing them their young and their loaded.
