Christian Schools

First of all before anybody gets on here accusing me of grouping every body from a Christian school together, that is not at all what I'm doing. With that said, I went to several different Christmas tournaments this weekend. I saw many games not just watching Clay Co. I witnessed some of the worst sportsmanship and fan actions from a Christian school today at Rhea Co than I have ever seen in my 56 years. The "f" word, GD, p***y was a few words the players were using. One fan screamed and cursed from the stands all thru the game. I know nobody is perfect but I was very disappointed and would have expected better from a Christian school. Again, I am NOT saying all Christian schools and fans act this way. It really upsets me and I wanted to see if anyone else has had this type of experience. I would expect the coaches etc to maintain a high standard when representing a Christian school. We all should and I'm not saying Public schools don't act the same way. Now I've wrote my book. Anybody else see this today?

This is common at all schools. It shouldn't be but it is. To label this Christian Schools is simply trying to start trouble. Maybe you should ask why this is common among most/many schools and why it is accepted anywhere. If you feel like attacking a school, list the school. Dont attack the christian faith due to the ignorance or poor values of a few. It would be just as easy for me to title it "America's Sports Audience" and it would judge us all!

My kids don't attend a Christian School, but as a Christian I don't like the way you grouped us all in your title.

I believe I started my post by saying I am not grouping. My post has nothing at all to do with the Christian faith and to say I attacked the faith is simply trying to start trouble. I myself am a Christian so why would I attack my faith. It bothered me to hear and see any young person use language like was used today. I said in my previous post I'm not saying public schools don't act the same way. I guess Im just more shocked that a team representing a Christian based learning environment would act this way. Its not right for any team or fan to do this and I know its done in public schools as well. My question is has anyone else heard such language at any games with any teams? I'm just not use to having to cover my grandchildrens ears games. Not knocking any group any religion any school any player. Just asking if today's game was out of the ordinary?? Or pretty common??

The title is fine. Catches the eye. Christian schools freely discuss the faith in school and athletics is a representation of schools. Therefore, there is a higher standard of representation at a Christian school... it's Jesus Christ and it should be exhibited in sport. Yes, we are all hypocrites and have fallen short of the glory of God but, as Christians, we strive to be like Christ. The language you mentioned is not acceptable by any team, much less a Christian school associated team. Their coach and administration need your feedback.

At the end of the day we're all human and sometimes emotions get the better of us. I've learned through the years that just because someone labels themselves or their school Christian it doesn't make them good people. Some who profess faith in Christ are some of the best and some of the worst people I have been involved with. The title in and of itself doesn't make you a good person. As Paul said in Romans 3:10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; What it comes down to is that we are all sinful fallen humanity, whether we consider ourself Christian, atheist, muslim, or whatever. That's the reason why Christ had to come because the Perfect Lamb had to take the place of sinful humanity. As Christians our main focus should be to strive to have the same attitude and disposition that Christ had in His time on earth and even for the best of us it takes years upon years and quite frankly never to achieve that place. Bottom line is we're all human. Don't let the name Christian make you automatically think someone is a good person. Don't compare or look to humans when talking about Christianity, but look to Christ and what He accomplished on Earth.

Bad title for the thread to begin with, but eye catching nonetheless.

From experience, most of the CAKe fans I've met have been good people (at least to me), and then there's always that one parent that says "get that (racial slur) off our players" at a CAKe-Alcoa game (yes, that actually happened).

Knoxville Catholic fans aren't much different from my experience. Granted, there was the one football fan that asked me how long Alcoa would compete before it became a blowout and then walked away fuming at my gamesmanship. And then there's the hot Catholic mom who dropped the F-bomb at an Alcoa fan near me.

Bottom line is: competition changes our attitude completely, and sometimes our brains just go elsewhere in the heat of the moment. NOBODY is perfect, but some go farther than others, at least vocally.

BUT here's a concept that applies to EVERYONE:

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged."

-Matthew 7:1

    • Did he promise you a coordinator job or something if he ever got a head coaching job? He resigned? He was at the top of the dugout last night calling plays. I wonder if those 30+ parents would let him give their kids a ride. by the way the board meeting was last night and it was not mentioned. must have been at the work session earlier this week which is not public. must be trying to keep it quiet.  Since you know so much, how much is Robbie Atwood willing to pay Adam Cothron?  Didn't you slander Eden earlier on here? You also didn't know he was a faculty coach again so how much do you really know? Some people outside this county baffle me with their need to slander others.
    • He resigned smh, and have you ever heard of charged but not convicted. Some people in this county baffle me with their need to slander others. Have you asked any of the 30+ parents that signed a petition to get him reinstated at the board meeting this week how they feel about this? Just let it play out, at the end of the day the only people that will bring TC back are the ones that know what its about at its core.    People hate losing and they aren't used to it at TC. I for 1, and I'm sure others too, understand having a dip in talent and not being able to compete for a state title every year. But in the past, TC teams have outworked more talented teams, they didn't continuously lose the turnover battle, they didn't commit 8+ penalties in several games each season, and I believe several of the folks in town that want Blake out feel as if he is neglecting the history of the program. This is from a source that used to be extremely close to the program (not me lol), Blake gets out of school midday and the players show up and there is no practice plan or itinerary.  I also understand those that are on team Blake, when he has loads of talent, he wins. He does know football and he is a tremendous DC, and if the rumors are true then he will do great things. As for the board member issue, it is what it is, everyone that's true to the county know that and nothing has changed. I agree though that they should strive to make the facilities as good as we can. And as far as potential candidates, I agree there is very few options. West, Vetetoe (yes I know), and couple others that could have some interest. Whatever happens is massive for the program during a pivotal time before the next big wave of stars make their way through.
    • McKenzie had no trouble with Huntingdon.
    • Has BA landed any cornfed cowboys to block up front?
    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
