Tennessee's next O.C. is right under their nose in Maryville.

Tonight was Open House at 825 Lawrence. So I spoke to King George about this and a few other things. Listening to him talk and seeing his face light up about Maryville High School, the students and the Red Rebels. We can all breathe a sigh of relief tonight and have a good nights sleep. There's more important things in his life than money. Spending quality time with his young boys and his wife is more valuable than a three year contract. That makes me respect the man more and more. And I don't care if the stadium is 1/3 full and they tear half of it down to make it look like there's more people in it, I'll be there. I'll never be bored or complacent with my Red Rebels. Football, basketball and baseball I'm there. When I get my letter in the mail that it's time to purchase my season tickets, I'll be there. Go Rebels!!!

Maybe he likes where he is at and what he does and does not obssess over little things like some do.

Maybe stabiliity for his family is important to him. Maybe spending time with them is important.

Maybe he feels he is where the Good Lord wants him to be, and he feels there is more to life than how much money you make.

Of course that is just me, I could be wrong.

As for the season ticket seats being empty, when I write my check for 6 tickets this is my guaranteed contribution to the football program. If some other family has the opportunity to get away during fall break, good for them. I choose to go to the games home and away. When the playoffs start I don't buy 6 tickets each week. During the early rounds, the ones that don't sit in the stands get left home. Since 1997 MHS has played 5 extra games every year except 2003 and 1999.

THANKS FOR SHARING! I don't know what's more impressive the coach or the man. Every time I've had the opportunity to speak with Coach Quarles I come away admiring how humble and gracious he is. It's not hard to see why anyone wouldn't want their son to play for him whether they ever won a game or not. What a great role model for any coach, man, father, husband....you name it!

This is the best post I've seen on this thread. I consider it a blessing to have GQ in my sons life, all of the coaches actually.

It's great to have a coach like G.Q. and the feeling he will stay here a while is even greater. My whole point is that he is qualified for that position at UT and with the success Freeze and Malzahn has had that have been the same route should be an example to others that say you can't jump from high school to big time college are full of crap. Those two coaches are kicking behinds and taking no prisoners in the SEC.  Sure money don't drive some people and that's great but the truth is our coach is being paid as a Teacher, an A.D. and a Coach.  The first two are a full time job alone and when you look at the overtime hours your pouring into all of that your going into a hole. That's why most coaches would jump at the chance to move up. I'm sure that G.Q. isn't even on Butch Jones radar for that position because of the good old buddies club that insist on hiring inside the circle of college experienced coaches which is poppy crock. Last year when Bowling Green was looking at Tennessee's O.C. as their head coach I prayed he would get that job so Jones would wise up and go get someone that really could run an SEC offense. When we played Vanderbilt I fell asleep because the offense stunk to high heaven that day and had it not been for that punt return I bet we would have lost that game. Butch Jones demise as the UT Football coach would have came sometime down the road by hanging on to this guy to long because he is clearly the weal link. Now go get a O.C. that can run that offense finally even though the clear cut qualified coach to do it is fifteen miles away.

That's enough about that.

Let's talk baseball fields, softball fields, suspensions, probations, spring practice, recruiting, or anything else.

Does the probation apply to all sports? If so, we may need to cancel all sports except football from now until the probation is over - just to be safe.

Probation is Hoops only SX.

    • Can’t believe no one posted on this and gave this team the recognition they deserve!  AAU team Tennessee went to Iowa and done what no other team had ever done and took down Iowa and the strength by holds in AAU nationals!!! Yes McCallie had a solid group of 8th graders and they showed up but we had an AAU team that wrestled their butt off and we didn’t just place in the top 5 … we won the whole dang thing! Yes the NHSCa’s were happening and that may have hurt but never once had TN ever won the national folkstyle duals national championship!!  It was a team effort and some amazing young kids!!!    We are not a fly over state any more… on a side note : we have any even better team for cadet National's team duals in Utah and have a chance to sweep both duals which would be unprecedented!!! However the funds aren’t there and USA isn’t in th position to help these kids get to utah as was AAU that got us to Iowa! Stay tuned for some oppertunities to help make a statement for Tn!!!
    • Right cause you know me, you may know my name, what I post on here, what I say on our shows, but you don’t know who I am. And if your class ring doesn’t say Trousdale County high school, quite frankly I don’t care what you say.
    • I agree but I will say I’m not hiding behind a screen name, I’m easy to find and not hard to miss lol
    • Dont get your reference, but okay. You calling someone a hypocrite is ironic given your track record.
    • Not gonna lie, it’s been hard watching my alma mater go through a tough stretch on the grid iron. But this thread is even worse. y’all sound like a bunch of jr high mean girls, popping off, while hiding behind screen names.
