Baylor, Ryan in D-II State Duals

FRANKLIN - Two old rivals meet for the TSSAA D-II state duals title Saturday night as defending state champion Baylor (24-1) take on Father Ryan (22-3) at 8:30 p.m. EST at the Williamson County Ag and Expo Center.


Baylor’s lone dual loss is to Archer (Ga.) and Ryan’s losses are to Baylor (2) and Archer (Ga.).


This is the 10th time the two wrestling powers have met in the duals finals, with Baylor leading 5-4.

 Road to the Finals: Baylor defeated Brentwood Academy, 72-3, and MBA, 43-13, while Father Ryan defeated Briarcrest, 73-6, and McCallie, 49-24.


State Duals Titles: Baylor (8), McCallie (6), Father Ryan (6)


Father Ryan’s last duals title came in 2010 … Ryan won the first TSSAA state duals in 1988 …

    • College coaches stopped looking at Winfree after the coach destroyed Winfree's reputation and shared things with coaches.
    • Congratulations to Coach Runyon. He seemed to do a good job when I watched his teams play. He didn't coach like he was ready to retire. With that being said... both coaching positions in the same district open... which one of these jobs is the best job and why?  also, it is a coincidence that they both leave at the same time...

We have 8 Womens Colleges Coaches coming in to watch/teach/interact with the girls at camp. The camp is designed to get the girls in camp in front of College Coaches and showcase their skills.     • good points. I guess the question is do the coaches need to be out of the classroom and get paid for just coaching. maybe move the coaching jobs to just coaching and no teaching. that would open up the coaching ranks to some good coaches that are not qualified to teach. Then you could do contracts and pay them whatever you want to pay them. move the positions to contracts.  Just like college. Thoughts?
    • It's not just DB, I don't think any of the NET big schools will ever be relevant in football.      Meaning in the playoffs.....
