Alright here it is the authority on all things Smoky Bear football. I have a Dollywood Gold pass and frequent flyer miles at Frank Allens!

1st I will cover the losses from last year and who may replace them. On the offense It is my opinion that Zach Sauls is the biggest lose along with the Oline which loses all but 1 starter. If Banks is eligible he would obviously fill the RB spot but from what Im hearing he may not become eligible. So without Banks the RB position is up for grabs and it could be a 2 way guy in JD Griffen that is in the lead at this point but another guy they may have to give a look will be soph Chase Wallace although Im hearing he is going to be playing saftey he will be hard to keep off the field. I think the Bears should consider several 2 way guys this year correct me if Im wrong but I think west played several guys both ways last year and they won the 5a gold ball. On the Oline I would look for these guys Lt to rt Senior Jordan Horning has some starts under his belt and could be a good LT if he can stay healthy. LG JR Nick britton also some starts to his credit should be a fine HS lineman. Center is the biggest hole to fill at this point it may be between JR Austin Roberts and a 2 way guy in Desmond Pancotto however unlikly because he is a big nose tackle and the Bears have shown they dont play linemen both ways often. RG could be either SR John Barnes or SR Jared Kirkinstin with the other probably playing RT. As far as others that could earn a spot upfront I would say sophmores Benny Ramsey and Holt Rader are possible as well as another potential 2 way guy in JR Luke Ellis who did play LG in short yardage situations as well as start on DL last season. Also they have a couple TE ends who could play some tackle in JR Isiac Jeffrers and SR Johnathan Bersh. Very little depth at that position (whats new) but if the OL coach makes a comeback he will make them better for sure he is probably one of the best OL coaches around.

Ok so whos back on offense? Duece Wallace SR QB will be very good and will be stocked with some solid WR including SR Devonte Matthews, Jr Charlie Brown, SR Coner Ritz, Sr Hunter Minard although many of these guys will be needed on the defense the rotation is pretty steady so the WR positions seems most likely to fit that 2 way player bill as they have in the past. Other guys to help catch or carry the rock would be Jrs, Austin Henry, Sean Murphy, Soph Anthony Valasquez again 1 of the best coaches on this staff is the WR coach and he makes guys better.

The biggest Defensive lose will be All stater Seth Arwood who had 100+ tackles from his DE position. The DL returns 2 starters in Ellis and Pancatto who will be solid and I would look for SR Jerad kirknstin and SR johnathan Bersh to possibly fill the hole left by Arwood. SR Hunter Cates returns at LB along with Griffen. Look for Minard, Matthews,  Brown, Banks, the younger Wallace, Ritz  and Austin Henry also to be play makers on the definsive side of the ball.

I think this team with the addition of Banks or without will be a state contender. The offense will be Dynamite and the Defense should be solid. The biggest question in my mind will be developing some depth by playoff time at this point I would be playing alot of guys both ways because the schedule is tough with Cleveland, OR, West and DB all in the 1st half of the season. Also alot of new faces on the schedule who will get schooled in the art of fast paced Brewer offense and other than Maryville nobody has stopped the Bears from Scoring in bunches and this season will be the same. I dont know much about Crocket,Boone, and TN high but they better get ready because when the DDD express gets cranked up they will be the best 3 players on the field most every friday night and this Bears squad has several other very solid players to complement Deuce Devonte and hopefully Dorian.

I have probably forgot someone but this is pretty much the names you will be hearing this year at Birchfield stadium and I believe in cookeville come Gold Ball friday Night!

GoBears!!

I'm assuming Chase is Deuces' little brother? I hope I can make it to the Oak Ridge game. I think that will be a good one.

I also hope the Jumbo tron operator gets a little more skill last years constant advertising seems pretty lame. I know it has to be paid for but some replays and more highlights would be fun.

GB

I'm the same here. The first year we had ours they didn't show replays but only the game while in play which was not to bright. They over do it with the sponsors that it gets down right annoying at the Maryville games. If you ever need me to come up there and give the place the Barney Test please just let me know. I can go right down my checklist and let you know all the problems and what it will take to make the corrections.  Oh yes thanks for setting up the 2015 version .

I could definitely see SC competing for a 5A championship. You won't have to go through maryville and it seems like your region is going to be just as easy, if not easier, than the last one. Will Campbell County be in your region? That would be a fun game to watch.

They're not in our region. Maybe we'll get to play them in the playoffs. Personally, I hope we get a game with ooltewah. And crack fishdiddy's code #lop(LotsOfPurple)

I guess commercials pay better than replays lol. Come on up and give us the "barney test". We appreciate constructive criticism. I wanted to keep the 2014 thread going. If we leave up the same thread for 3 or 4 years we might hit as many pages as WB

Barney,

It's a been a few years since WB's been up there but I can tell you the issues I noticed. All the years WB played them up there they never had the scoreboard working right and you couldn't hear their P.A guy from the visitors side. Seriously I could never hear him and I can't tell you if that's a good or bad thing.
