MountainTroll
http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/sports/preps/story/2015/feb/28/signal-mountain-hires-ty-wise-coach-eagles-football-team/290874/ I'm convinced Coach Wise is the right man, in the right place, at the right time to take Signal Mountain to the next level. What Bill Price has done at Signal over our first six years is nothing less than phenomenal, and he leaves some very big shoes to fill. Coach Wise is early in his career as a head coach, but I have no doubt that he is a rising superstar. We are very fortunate to have Barry Loyal and Troy Boeck on staff, and the trio should be able build on our past successes without missing a beat. Ty played his high school ball at 6A B.T. Washington HS in Pensacola, winning the 6A Florida State Championship his junior year. He was then a three year starting center and 1st team All-American at the University of Miami. He then had a brief 4 year career in the NFL and briefly worked as a personal trainer for several NFL players. Throughout his career, Coach Wise has excelled in the area of Speed/Strength Conditioning and Sports Nutrition. He brings with him a comprehensive, well-structured program to develop athletes in all sports, male and female, starting at the middle school level. He entered the high school coaching ranks as an assistant and strength coach at his alma mater, before transferring to 1A Northview HS in Bratt, FL as the offensive coordinator and head strength and conditioning coach. In his four years at Northview, he guided the team from a 2-8 season in 2008 to a 1A Florida State Championship in 2012. For the past two years, he has served as the head football coach and athletic director at Graceville, FL. He is praised by all who have worked with him for having a keen football mind. He is known for running an attacking style offense that is able to identify, adapt to, and exploit an opponent’s weaknesses. Having played center at the highest level under a number of outstanding coaches and having coached alongside others, he understands not only how to attack defenses, but also how to design defensive schemes that will best neutralize an opponent’s offensive strengths. Above all of this is his commitment to his players and students. He truly understands his position as a role model and mentor to our young men and women. He is actively involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and community service organizations. Character, discipline, hard work, determination, responsibility, intensity, enthusiasm, integrity, structured, and consummate professional are the terms used to describe him by those who have been associated with him. As a teacher of History, Civics, and Economics, his students universally praise him as a thoughtful and caring educator. Academic achievement, community service, and strong moral character are required of his players. We welcome Ty, his wife Mary, and their four children (Ty 12, Kendall 9, Grant 7, Madelyn 5) to the Signal Mountain community and the Eagle Family. MountainTroll
The comments in this article when he left Northview for the head coach position at Graceville really says it all. http://www.northescambia.com/2013/01/northview-assistant-coach-wise-headed-to-graceville

realmenwearred
Thank goodness they didn't hire a guy that has just been passed around this area. And he's an ex-offensive lineman, that makes me so happy!!! Love a guy from "the trenches"!! In my book an offensive line in the most important link to success in HS football. Good luck coach, you will have great support up there.
tarp
Don't think most of the posters saw that coming.
RebRaider85
The comments in the article were all very complementary about Coach Wise. Evidently there must not be much respect for the person who was the head coach at that school because many people who commented basically were saying that they should have given the head coaching position to offensive coordinator Wise there instead to prevent him from leaving. Good luck to Signal Mountain. Sounds like you snagged a good one.
wingman10
Am glad you hired a good one. A friend of mine that coached at Miami spoke highly of him.

smeagle1
Now that we have made a great hire for head coach lets move to the next question. When is the new turf field being installed?

MountainTroll
I hope he can keep the coaches on staff....good coaches and good men Since Coach Wise is from outside the area, he certainly doesn't have assistants he is wanting to bring in, and he was very impressed with the quality of the existing staff. We have a great group of coaches at the high school and middle school level, and I believe they are all committed to the kids up here and are committed to seeing Signal Mountain succeed. I have the utmost respect for all of them, and I hope they all stay. As I said earlier, I believe the trio of Wise, Boeck, and Loyal bring a formidable knowledge base to the field. I'm excited. Can't wait for spring practice. GO EAGLES ! ! !
