The "showdown" is getting closer...four of the premier Middle Tn. teams travel across the river to take on four of the west's best. Murfreesboro Central Magnet, Cascade, Middle Tn. Christian, and Summertown will clash with Riverside, Jackson Christian, Scotts Hill, and Lexington in a true test of top teams. Should be a classic!!!

Some great baseball over the weekend!!! I was surprised that Summertown suffered four losses...they are clearly a top level 1A team, and pass the "eye test" for talent. Travel time, pitching rotation, and other factors had to contribute...they will be reckoned with before a champion is crowned. Middle Tennessee Christian also has a talented, well coached team, and will make some noise.

I was also impressed with the fan turnout from such distances for the Middle Tn. teams, and I look forward to next season's trip to some of the venues up there...the "showdown" is not only a great measuring stick for different regions, it's an opportunity to see how baseball is done at other strong programs.

Last, congratulations to "my" SHHS Lions and Coach Britt on a great week!!! A young program still on the rise got confirmation that they can play with the best of the best, especially the underclassmen pitching...keep working, keep believing, and LET 'EM HEAR YOUR ROAR!!!

Great baseball, and great teams involved! Summertown fan base definitely travels well, but our bats did not. Not sure what to pin it on, but we are much stronger than we appeared. Need some rest, but won't get it yet. 10 of the last 11 have been road games. Takes a toll on you I think. What doesn't kill you should make you stronger.

Lot's of good baseball! Thanks for the hospitality!

Like I said, Summertown passes the eye test...no doubt one of the best that we've faced, and yes, I'd say that consecutive days with multiple games per day, and the distance traveled would take the sap out of anyone! I also agree that a tough schedule will pay dividends down the road...that's just one of the things that makes this annual (I hope) "showdown" special.

Good luck to your Eagles down the road...hope we have the chance to play a 'couple more!   :thumb:

    • Yep..could possibly have 3 teams ranked in top ten in the same four team district.
    • He had an opportunity to be the OC at TC without final say in the offensive gameplan. How does that work? Smh. Head Coaches are public figures regardless of the community size, and yes there are some out there, it’s irrelevant and not fair to them to name them on here. Also why is said “head coach” the head coach of the MS baseball program to begin with? Oh because no one wants it. As for the Lebanon question, I know what I’ve been told so just going off here say, some of the boosters were not happy with his roster decisions and wanted him out. Although he lead them to 20+ wins in multiple seasons
    • A head coach in the school system? No I dont think so. Head coaches are public figures in small communities. Not trying to slander, but this is an actual question. Do you know why he was forced to resign at Lebanon? This was his second chance.  He already left trousdale once and had an opportunity to come back a couple of years ago but spoiled that.
    • Are you perfect? Nope no one is, at the end of the day there are several teachers/coaches and even some in the Trousdale County school system that have DUI’s on their record. You’re correct on it being a bad mistake and it unfortunately could have ended horribly. While you consider the consequences minimal, I can assure you they are not. Ultimately I hope and have faith that he will learn from it and use it to better himself.
