cbg
When the TSSAA votes all private schools into D2 this month what will it cost the TSSAA member schools if the following happens: 1. All private schools leave the TSSAA and form another association? 2. The private schools not only leave the TSSAA to form another association but also start legal proceedings claiming they were not properly represented due to the fact no private schools are on the TSSAA Board of Control or Legislative Council. 3. The private schools stay in the TSSAA but begin legal proceedings. Not trying to stir the pot but these are very real issues that not only could but may take place depending on how the vote goes. Could the TSSAA afford another case that goes the distance (US Supreme Court)? Another issue to keep in mind is the last time around the Supreme Court ruled that the TSSAA was a state actor! GWAVE1
I think they have already stated that it would cost too much to form their own association and since they are planning on electing another council for the privates, those senerios seem unlikely. BUT...If one does happen I do not mind trashing the T$$AA and starting a fresh new one.
HTV
If they leave and form their own association, who are they going to play? Are they all going to go out of state to play all of their non region games? If they leave, then there is no reason for the public schools to schedule them. Forming their own association would be much more penal to them than staying in the TSSAA in a private school classification.
RonMexico3
The larger privates have already started talks to form their own association once they are kicked out of TSSAA. There are plenty of private schools in the south that would join. There will two divisions. The top tier (Ensworth, MBA, Baylor, MUS,ect) will travel the south. The other division (CPA, BGA, Webb, ect.) would play the privtes in state and travel out of state for non district games. You think travel would be an issue? It would not be. Most of these kids travel long distances for their travel sports as is. A two day trip to Birmingham, Atlanta, or Louisville to play would be nothing for these students. Just more prep for their college playign days. There will be plenty of teams with an abundance of talent on each squad to make this happen. As for the law suit, of course it'll happen and I hope the spineless AD from Lewis county has to hand over the check while on the CPA campus. According to who I have heard from they are not planning on forming their own association at this time. It would be very expensive and time consuming. The publics add zero value to the private schools. See GWAVE1, thats the problem with most publics, they complain all the time about privates yet they do not want them represented on the executive board but have no problem cashing their checks. Whoa whoa there just a second. You better check with other private school coaches and administrators before you start attacking me. I was only telling you what I have heard. Go do some asking around to those who matter and see what those have already said. You might get more educated on the subject. You might need to do some history with the TSSAA and Gallatin before you claim I have no problem with them. Who on this very thread said lets start over??? Get in line and blame Brentwood Aca which is where this all started many years ago!! This whole setup has been wrong since then.
wardawg2038
Ron Mexico must be smoking some stuff from below the border!! Lol Public Schools add no value?? TSSAA cashing private checks?? Lol The TSSAA runs off the money from the gates of the public schools definitely not the private schools. Attend a playoff game at any of the publics then attend a playoff game at a private and check out crowd size. Or go to the state finals and go on Thursday to private ges and then Friday and Saturday to public games and check crowd numbers. If anything with he Brentwood lawsuit a few years back the privates have cost the publics money. And on the add no value to the privates then why is the split a big deal then?? If they get nothing out of playing the publics why play them? I know tonget that gate money.

Indian
Even with representation they'd be outvoted.
HTV
So, Ron - let me get this straight - the powers that be at the private schools are going to be ok with the student/athletes missing two days of school per week to travel out of state to play games? And keep in mind that we aren't just talking football, here. Leaving the TSSAA would affect all sports. If you really believe that then you must be smoking some really high test Mexican wacky weed. The privates would be foolish to leave the umbrella of the TSSAA, and they know it.
RonMexico3
I'm not sure why you guys assume my stuff comes from Mexico. I don't have to tell y'all that some of the finest stuff is grown in the hollows of east Tennessee. Why import when it's grown local?
