I don't know why I've always followed these perennial doormats from afar.  But they are 2-0 so far!  Story of the year -- so far!  JMO.  Hats off to the Blue Devils!

No offense to Pickett.  But they've had some success in hoops.  Jellico hasn't had much success in anything.

Good deal. I pull for Pickett because they're an underdog in football too, and they're our neighbor here in the Upper Cumberland. Good luck to Jellico this season. I love to see these small schools succeed.

I remember several years ago, when Pickett won the state in boys hoops.  Early '90s?  One really good player.  I wish I could remember the details.  

 

I love the small schools in football.  Hartsville, Oneida, South Pittsburg...  

 

And now Jellico!

Yeah Pickett Co won the state in 1990 with Eric Mitchell as Mr. Basketball winner. He went on to play at Tenn Tech & is now head coach at White County.

They also won the state in 1995 with Joseph Amonett winning Mr. Basketball.

And...had a Mr. Basketball winner in 1991 as well with Eugene Parris winning it.

So yeah they have definitely had some success in basketball.

Thanks for that info, TS.  I remember those names now.  

 

Jellico's most famous alum would have to be opera singer/actress Grace Moore.  She also played hoops for Jellico.
