Mt. Pleasant @ Fayetteville

Mt. Pleasant (1-1) starts their Region play this coming Friday night at Fayetteville (1-1)....

mTp's first two games were non-Region opponents and where mTp started their season out with a hard lesson learned loss to a top ten Wayne Co. 35-0 only to bounce back a week later with a big Victory over a struggling old Region 6 foe in Perry Co. 46-8....

The MP Tigers are no doubt proud of their Win, but they have to get even more focused than last Friday because their new Region 4 foe is no Perry Co.

The Fayetteville Tigers have good size and a speedy defense.... #22 Brandon Moore for Fayetteville had a nice 70+yard run score on a jet sweep against GCA at the Jamboree and showed himself to be fast and shifty. He had a nice grab also on an interception on defense.

#2 McWilliams for Fayetteville has speed if he gets open and seemed to be an up the gut power runner. #7 QB for Fayetteville has good arm can scramble and decently accurate.

Fayetteville lost their opening season game 28-48 also against a very good FRA - who just beat Columbia Academy 42-41 in 2 overtimes.... F-ville won their week 2 game against Region foe Huntland 49-21 on Friday.

Can mTp ride on into Fayetteville still up and focused for another Win?... Or will Fayetteville shut them down like Wayne Co. did?.?.?

Who wins and why?

Go mTp!!!

This will be a fun one for the home side.  Even though Mt. P is an unknown to us for this first meeting between programs, I'm feeling very homer-ish and will predict another Tiger win early this season.  We played two good quarters against FRA in game 1, and three good quarters in game 2, now maybe we can work hard for four quarters and decide the outcome early.  We let Huntland drive 85+ yards at the end of the second quarter to take a 14-14 score into halftime.  Mt. Pleasant has a rich history and I'm sure they want this one badly.  I'm hoping our team speed will make up for the youth we have on both sides of the ball.  It wasn't until the 3rd qtr. that we were able to slow down the Huntland running back #21.  What a beast.  Definitely has a bright future potential on the next level, if not in football then in baseball.  Even so, we never completely stopped him, just slowed him down enough for some gang tackling.  Is Mt. P more of a ground threat or in the air, or balanced?  Senior heavy or young like us?  Questions, questions.

I am also going to be a homer and pick my team to win...

after seeing Fayetteville in the jamboree, I think these teams could be mirror images of each other. MTP is young on the line but have speedy backs that can make you look silly if you don't wrap up. both teams run similar offense and defense. neither team appears to have much depth. passing against WC was awful but looked better against PC. I believe the line will get better evevery week with experience.

Go TIGERS... of MTP that is.

I can see this game being a region rivalry for years to come.

This would be a VERY hard game to predict for me. I would guess it will be close all the way til the 4th qtr an it being a 1 score game. Stop #4 for Mt.Pleasant (Warnsley) Hes the main RB and hes a slick lil runner. You stop him and i believe you win F'Ville. #10 and #38 are 2 others to look out for. #10 Crawford is a very athletic QB but does not have much accuracy on his throws.

Good info #2, thanks.  I'm hoping the defense gets the green light to go after the Mt. P. QB and set him down a few times.  But, we did it a few times against Huntland and almost got burned on a screen pass.  Quarterback can't beat you if he's scrambling for his life.  The Fay' Tigers need to mature up a little--several fantastic individual effort runs were called back for silly holding calls.  Don't have the numbers, but easily lost 120 yards that were called back for penalties.

Unfortunately We know this all to well we had 10 pen for -115 yds vs MtP week 1.

You're right about a Tiger win come Friday night...😉

mTp can throw if the line gives them enough time too. The line is inexperienced looking, they are having trouble picking up assignments and giving good holes/routes for their speedy runners.

Line play will likely make or break either of these teams on this game.

mTp allows F-ville's LB's to get a straight rush in the backfield like they did WC, stopping drives and causing punts for mTp?.... F-ville may win this one by 2 tds or better.

The Tigers of MP can score with their backfield (#4, #6, #10, #38, #20, #23, #30 all capable) if the blockers pick up their assignments of F-ville's speedy attack up front.

You will see a mix out of mTp at QB and will see direct snaps to whomever gets the order in the backfield. The mTp QB's are scramblers and can burn you, again, if they get good blocks.

mTp has the athletes to win this. Biggest question remain for fans like me, is has the line *and the lead blockers out of the backfield* gotten better at blocking for their runners?.?.?

I sure hope so!

Go mTp!

    • Shopping? His family is loaded and he's 6'6 I'm pretty sure he could start anywhere in upper East TN,So no need to shop. • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
