Week 3: South Gibson (3-0) at Trinity Christian Academy (0-3)

South Gibson started regional play with a big 49-14 win over JCM. TCA fell to rival Adamsville 33-13.

SGC looks to continue success against Jackson schools as they sit at 2-0 against schools from the JMCSSD. Last season this game was an offensive onslaught seeing the scoreline at 28-21 at the end of the 1st.

NotNoah you are always very objective with your assessments. I would love to hear your thought on SG. I know they are well coached. Sounds like you have done well thus far!

 

I have faith our coaches will get our boys going in the right direction.

To be honest I havent seen them play yet. If they are like the past 2 years they are usually undersized and have lesser natural athletes, but stay in games and compete based on hard work and good coaching. From what I've heard they have multiple backs and a strong defense.

Last season it was 28-21 at the end of one quarter.  TCA outscored SG the rest of the game by a 25-7 count.  

 

This season, SG is off to a 3-0 start while TCA is 0-3.  The teams that the Hornets have beaten have a combined record of 1-8.  The teams TCA has played have a combined record of 7-2.  Two of those teams, USJ and St. George's, are favorites to win the state title in their classification.  While TCA is 0-3, they have kept their opponents close before faltering late in each contest.  Andrew Goldsmith has been the dominate player in each of TCA's games this season.  That will not change against SG.  What remains to be seen is if anyone else for TCA can generate offense besides Goldsmith.  The talent is there but someone has to step up.  I also firmly believe that if TCA would stop shooting themselves in the foot with fumbles and less than stellar special teams play, the Lions would have at least a couple of wins under their belts.  

 

This game will also be the home opener for TCA.  I believe the Lions will win in a close and hotly contested game.

Yeah, we have played 3 pretty tough teams, actually the three toughest on our schedule, but we also have other issues. We don't have anyone who can get it to our receivers. We have been one dimensional. Now, the one dimensional, Goldsmith, is awesome but it isn't enough. We have to be able to complete a few passes to open it up. Hopefully we will see some improvement this week. I'm not used to it either. We averaged 47 points per game last year. Not used to only seeing 16 on the scoreboard!

The region, if it still contains Adamsville and Riverside, is SAF. The S stands for scary. You have to think all three of those teams will be in the playoffs again, and then anything can happen.
