Preseason favorites in single A ( Which districts are strong this year)

District 7 will be strong. Jackson Co. Pickett Co. and Clarkrange are the district contenders. Clarkrange has the most rebuilding to do, but Clay Co. could give them a hard time for the #3 spot. Look at the TSSAA records and you will find these teams mentioned more than any other district. The coaches of these teams have a proven talent for getting their teams deep into post season play.

Middleton will be good again this year. They lost a lot last year, but still looked really good this summer when I saw them. I would say they're probably the favorite out of this area. Chelsea Perry, who was state tournament MVP, is up to about 6'3 now and several of the other kids they have looked to have grown some when I saw them this summer. They're well a well coached team as well...

Gibson returns all of their key players back from last year and, in my opinion, has the best player in Single A basketball when she wants to be in Bri Fields.

As for the rest of the state, Clarkrange will be tough as they still have Meadows who looked good this summer in travel ball. Pickett County has the shooters in Courtney Pritchett and Abbi Buck, they'll be back for another run this year. Moore County should be pretty good with Kursten Hawkins. Clay County was pretty good last year at state, not sure what they return...

Anyone can win it, but if I had to pick right now, I would take Middleton with the repeat this year.

Good to hear about west tn. Seems like every year I hear the least about the west but then they take home a gold ball, I think the meadows girl from Clarkrange has improved and runs the floor better this year. We could see a repeat of the same championship last year with Middleton and

Clarkrange. It's going to take another big post to beat Clarkrange if Meadows is playing well.

From what I heard, Clarkrange is going to have their work cut out for them. They lost Cooper (Best player IMO), Shaver, and Van Ruden to graduation. I also heard that Lexi smith transfered. I don't see them in the championship. Pickett *should be* the team to beat this year.

Knew they lost a few due to graduation but was unaware of the other thanks for the info. I agree Pickett will be strong this year. If they shoot well they can beat anyone. With that being said any of the top 10 or 15 teams could end up in the championship if they get hot at the right time. I pull for 9A teams personally it's just hard to get out of the district with community, Huntland, MTCS, Moore, and Forrest. There are some talented young ladies in this district. However, with the exception of community there is not a lot of size inside and to me that is where you get more consistent play. A good post can put up 20 a night and clean the boards all night.

Pickett County was the closest thing to beating Middleton all year last year, and Pickett returns everything. A Pickett/Middleton state championship would be ideal, but knowing how the draw usually falls, they'll play each other in the first round of the tournament.

gwh, what all does Community return?

I Saw Peabody play Middleton to overtime and, lose in sudden death, this summer so that gets me excited about Peabody girls having a Good year and moving on up if Middleton is for real again. I know it was just summer, but I'm sure both teams will continue to improve also.

Middleton is going to struggle early on as they find a new leader with Averyale gone.  Perry has gained confidence last year at the expense of Deja and she is going to be a handful. The should be back at state but a repeat will be difficult.

If GC doesnt't use more players year than last, they may run out of gas in the substate again to an inferior team.  If Bri is playing her best, they are unbeatable. They play a crap pot of games, press the whole time and never sub
