Knoxville Catholic should be good. The Irish return 3 starters (including their leading scorer and rebounder) from a team that won 20 games last year. They bring back 3 players that have started at least 10 varsity games in their careers. They add 6 talented sophomores who led their jv team to a 17-4 record as freshmen. With one senior on the roster, they have the potential to be good the next few years but, that's why you play the games. The three returning starters have started since their freshman year.

Bearden returns three starting players form their 28-3 season last year, Smith, Fair and Snyder. Two new transfer juniors from Alaska who seem good and four decent sophomores, including two 6'6" kids. Some talented freshman have come in as well, and expect will see some playing time. Should be an interesting season under Coach Blevins this year.

How did Bert Bertlkamp's son end up at Catholic? Wasn't Bert a Bearden legend?

Had no idea the son was playing for Catholic. Still is a legend, donates quite a bit to the school and has all this stuff named after him. I'll have to ask around.

Kid was at Webb before Catholic. Probably why football no longer plays.

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with basketball. However, from what I gather, the basketball teams aren't playing because of football. I didn't know he was at Webb. He didn't come to Catholic's tryouts this summer. He showed up on campus when school started asking if he can tryout in November. To be honest I've never seen him play. His sister played KYS basketball with my daughter when they were in elementary school. How will the Mavs look this year? I saw that AC and Catholic play in November. Those have been some really good games over the years.

    • Yeah, you might be right. We will see what happens. Should be interesting.
    • None taken ever. I just gotta believe that AC started the fire on this. Small towns talk clinton is a small town. They may have not been the official one to put ink to paper but I am sure they are the ones moving the pieces here.
    • No offense intended,  but I will take the word of an actual administrator in that system on that question.
    • My guess is, this has absolutely nothing to do with athletics. I could be completely wrong. Just going to let this play out over the next few days/weeks before throwing accusations around. Funny how when OR benefits from “transfers” it is because of the incredible school system and never for athletics because most people can’t afford the “tuition”! Going to be interesting to say the least.    And if AC is turning anybody in, shame on them. They have benefited and work the system more than most over the years.
    • I think if either were their own school system then it wouldn't have happened. Of course a lot will make sense if they student who got their grades changed was an athlete
