Wilson Central at Whitehaven

Well I think I may actually go to this game... I've driven by Wilson Central on 840 plenty of times and the school is absolutely gorgeous. That means they got money. When you got money, you got coaching and bodies. Now IDK about how good their Jimmies and Joes are but their Xs and Os may keep this game from being mercy rule. However, Whitehaven should win if they play a clean game.

They've made it here for a reason so they won't be taken lightly at all. Are they a balanced O, spread, ground and pound or what? Any game changers on the field to look out for?

I wouldn't expect WH to take the game lightly at all because every team in the quarters surely deserves to be there but again just after seeing WC twice and knowing what I know about WH's talent I don't see how WC can stay in this game.

I've been wrong before and am mostly going off hearsay about WH.  WC improved considerably from week 6 or 7 when I saw them to the second round of the playoffs but will have to be much better all around this Friday then they were against Franklin to pull off another upset this week.

Every good team beat us in the season. According to everyone on this board we are slow and just a bad team. I guess just like the last two weeks a running clock should be expected. I will say that we should have more fans then the Cordova game. MJ student section is joining their friends at WC to form one great big student section and they are chartering a bus to come watch the game.

At the moment our defense is playing better. Cordova score 9 points in the first quarter and Franklin scored 20 in the fourth on a couple broken plays and some very sorry officiating. So we went 6 straight quarters without getting scored on. After giving up 30 in most of our games this years hat was pretty good. Whitehaven may put up 50 but we know for a while our defense was good.

It wasn't that we didnt know how to stop it... that young man MJ had running that jet was a pure athlete and fast as could be..when we went to MJ that first time we put nice whippin on them, but when they came to us they had a FB about 240 and that fast dude that ran down our RB from behind and stopped that TD...if yall dont have that speedster and can run that wing T better than MJ yall wont win...its not like we haven't seen it before. ...I don't know anything about WC but I know as long as Our D continues to score as they have been, winning is in our favor..

    • Lee would have been a good choice, also.  I'm sure Benny was involved with the decision.
    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
