The Bellevue coach is a Haven grad. The past few years it's been Bellevue middle reppin' the small middle schools in the West TN middle school championship game and Havenview representing the large middle schools. Both coached by Whitehaven grads with the Havenview coach being Whitehaven's DC.

I agree about keeping the middle school talent coming from our feeder school. I happen to know that there is one player off of this year's Havenview team that CBHS, MUS, and Lausanne have all been putting on a full court press trying to recruit him. He's not the only one but he's the one all the big schools are after.

lol not surprised at all! I still think we'll be fine tho. I know we got plenty of young players ready to step up and make a name for themselves and contribute to the team. I think having the likes of Saban and company floating around the campus during recruiting time plays a major key in motivating the underclassmen. IMO we need to just quit ignoring the elephant in the room and gone bring Flowers in to run the O, lol! I admit this is an extremely bias pov cause he was my former position coach but coach Saulsberry has to be tired of hearing the complaints about the OC every year. I do think our O did pretty good this year tho. RW was just the best overall team in the state and would not be denied. Although the most coaching I've ever done was on Madden, Im curious if it's ever been brought up in discussion to him or not.

Whitehaven is bringing back 7 on each side of the ball

We will be very strong next year. I'm wondering where they play #9 next year. Will he be a DB or a WR. I'm thinking he may go both ways. Who are the front-runners at the QB position before going into spring practice in your opinion?

Trust and believe one thing...those kids and parents at da view love coach harmon and they gone stay with him...this incoming freshman class will be the best since that Dotson, Sims, and perry class our 2012 champs...its alot excitement already. Between Bellevue, geeter, and da view we have a allstar cast comiing in...on a bitter sweet note, yes Bellevue coach is a haven grad, but this was his last year. Hes making a career change I hear so after this year our coaches are gone have to really work now to get some of those players. ...

The best since the Dodson, Sims, and Perry class you say? That's some high praise and some high expectations.

Career change huh? Well, you can't knock advancing in life. We all wish the best for him and his family. Whitehaven will be just fine.

Now you know good and well coach Flowers is re-vamping Kirby again. I don't think he would be interested in becoming an OC at Whitehaven when he's a HC at Kirby. I agree though, he is one of the best WR coaches in the state imo .. and he also seems to be a very good OC as well. His philosophy is different from the Whitehaven norm. He's NOT a ground and pound guy.

As I sit here and ponder next year's team I find myself pondering what we will do with some up and coming players. Megatron for instance. Do we put him in rotation at receiver or do we put him in rotation at the DE/OLB position? Which coordinator wins out on using his services next year? The same can be said of VJ. Does he go under center next year and start his Whitehaven career at the QB position or does he go into the DB rotation? I'm sure we will see some things come the spring game against Trezevant.

Whitehaven standouts Vaughn, Jones sign with Notre Dame, Navy

Updated: Yesterday 5:08 p.m.

When Whitehaven's Kerrick Jones was struggling with the recruiting process, he knew there was always one person he could count on — his teammate and "brother" Donte Vaughn.

"It was very frustrating," said Jones. "A lot of people overlooked me because of my size. It was nerve-wracking. But he would always tell me to just stay the course and stay consistent.

"And now we're going to do great things."

Jones signed with the Naval Academy on Wednesday during National Signing Day ceremonies at the school. Vaughn, one of the state's top prospects, is headed to Notre Dame.

The two were the headliners in a 10-man class at Whitehaven, which finished 13-1 this past season, losing to eventual state champion Ravenwood in the 6A state semifinals.

"We're brothers," said Vaughn, a 6-3, 195-pounder who is rated as a four-star prospect by Unapproved Website.

"We've been together since the seventh grade. We've never been split and we're going to be split now. But I'll see him on the field."

Vaughn and Jones will be part of one of college football's best traditions next season. The Notre Dame-Navy game has been played annually since 1927, making it the longest uninterrupted intersectional rivalry in the country.

The only thing missing will be a head-to-head matchup between the two; Jones said he's moving to the secondary full time in college after starring both as a wide receiver and a defensive back for the Tigers.

But either way, there's bound to be some of the trash-talking that's been the hallmark of the friendship that began in the seventh grade at Bellevue Junior High.

"We'd go back and forth in practice," said the 6-1, 170-pound Jones, who won the fashion award Wednesday with a floral print blazer and bright red tie.

"We'd try to break each other down — 'You can't hold me,' things like that. You win some, you lose some but at the end of the day we're still brothers."

Navy dipped into Shelby County to land another Shelby-Metro prospect, Houston wide receiver Chanse Pullen who caught 45 passes for 647 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. Army also landed a local player, running back Ben Hoffman, who gained 1,533 yards and scored 16 touchdowns for Lewisburg this past season.

As expected, the biggest local contingent is headed for the University of Memphis. Linebacker Tim Hart and wide receiver-defensive back Thomas Pickens of MUS, and Briarcrest athlete Hunter Hill signed with the Tigers. Olive Branch defensive back Sanchez Blake and Southwind offensive lineman Jonathan Timmons were not on the school’s official signing list but are expected to join the program.

The lone SEC signee from the area was DeSoto Central's Dareuan Parker, a 6-5, 320-pound lineman who signed with Mississippi State. Arkansas State also added a talented lineman in Jacob Still, the Division 2-A Mr. Football runner-up from state champion St. George's.

Texas-San Antonio's fledgling FBS program picked up a pair of standouts from East, athlete Teddrick McGhee and linebacker-defensive end Eric Banks. Wayne Eades, the Region 8-5A defensive player of the year from Central, signed with Idaho.

Former White Station quarterback Cedrick Wilson, the 2014 Pepsi Best of the Preps player of the year, signed with Boise State. Now playing wide receiver, Wilson should bolster the Broncos' passing game after catching 66 passes for 1,045 yards and 17 touchdowns at Coffeyville (Kan.)

Community College while earning All-America honors as a sophomore.

The area's top recruit in the class of 2016, 6A Mr. Football winner Dillon Mitchell of White Station, enrolled at Oregon last month.

2016 Examiner.com statewide national signing day list

February 4, 2016 11:58 AM MST

The 2016 National Signing Day is over and coaches across the nation regardless of division are taking inventory of what they got in the this class and are already looking to address their Class of 2017 needs. Now football recruiting is big business as social media and recruiting sites are all the rage.

Again this year, Examiner.com is publishing a statewide signing day list, although it is a day late, this year’s list has 299 signees from over 100 high schools in the Volunteer state. 51 players signed at the highest level in Division I, while 241 other players signed at other levels and will become the true student athlete.

Tennessee had a small recruiting class this season but the Volunteers finished strong landing a top 15 class while Vanderbilt signed a class of 20 including two instate players that are already enrolled. Memphis under first year coach Mike Norvell signed three from Shelby county, while MTSU signed six instate players.

Tennessee State signed five in state players but the biggest splash was with first year coaches Will Healy at Austin Peay and Marcus Satterfield at Tennessee Tech. Austin Peay signed 16 from the Volunteer state while Satterfield inked 11 from Tennessee.

The Division I schools are listed by conference while the other divisions, the schools are listed in alphabetical order.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..

    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
