Adalum.....I mean this as no disrespect to Coach Courtney, but it sounds to me that you are just jealous because Coach Taylor has been closer to a state championship than Farragut has ever been!

Not jealous of a guy with a 2-7 record against Farragut. Also, Farragut been to the semifinals twice, may want to check your facts next time.

The following I do know.

Coach Taylor has very good character.

He runs a disciplined program.

He has high expectations for his players.

Is well versed in football knowledge, just like the majority of area high school coaches, whether they are at Fulton, Farragut, Maryville, Central, or wherever.

Has often been a help to many players away from the football program, again just like most of the area high school coaches.

Again, like most high school coaches, puts in the 80 hour per week work load.

These type of coaches are who a parent should want their child to have as a coach.

And definitely not the type of some of these self-righteous blowhards on message boards!

etc., etc., etc.

Here is what I know. Taylor had a loaded team 3 years ago and refused to innovate or use his best players to their greatest strengths. He was eventually asked to leave. He is a good guy, a good man but not a very good coach. As a Karns fan and grad who had family playing for him at Bearden I am not overjoyed at this hire. Maybe it is the best Karns can do right now, who knows. Just not very excited. Will probably be the status quo at Karns.

Taylor was asked to leave Bearden by the guy who took his place. Taylor is a better coach than the AD who took over the Bearden program. Honestly, I don't even know the name of the Head Coach at Bearden now but  it looks like he wanted Taylors job. Best hire Karns could make in my opinion.

I agree!

He knows Karns is one of the toughest places to try to put together a winning program. Negative "he said; I said" back and forth definitely won't help. Coach Taylor did have the winningest tenure of any long term coach at Bearden. Bearden has been a very political place for the past few years. The softball coach after putting together a winning program was runoff after coach Taylor left. This year the boys basketball coach (the long term winningest basketball coach at Bearden) was shanghaied. These coaches are not in the administrations "back pocket". If a person is -- then he has a very good chance of getting what he wants.

He had a lot of success at Bearden and then things just kind of fell apart. I don't know anything about the situation at Bearden, but I doubt that it was all his fault. I mean the man had success for years before Bearden tanked. Yea sure, you could argue that the talent well went dry, but he won when he had talent. And coaches that are really bad will find ways to underachieve and lose even when they have good talent.

Brad Taylor was a good hire and hopefully Karns will improve. As far as Bearden, he resigned. The new head coach won 6 games last year so he has helped the program improve. They did well while Taylor was there because Devron Young and other talented players. The coach there now did well last year without any big name players. From what I know he didn't take Taylor's job. He went through the hiring process and made it because he was the right choice. Have you ever thought Taylor left because he wasn't the right fit? It is all too common for people to blame their choices on others. The new coach had nothing to do with his leaving. These decisions have helped Bearden and now possibly Karns.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
