1. GB- obviously the favorite

2-3. CF/Oneida- I'm not really sure what Oneida brings back but that game with CF is for 2nd place

4. Harriman- with Pace back they will still be better than Midway

5. Midway

6. Jellico

7. Sunbright

From what I remember and looking at last years local paper 2015 football preview Oneida lost some key players to graduation namely RB/LB Nate Bowling- Dalton Chambers, TE/DL Andrew Flint, OL/DL Isaiah Byrge, WR/DB Cage West and a couple others from the OL/DL.

They return their QB Logan Marlow, RB/LB Jake Lawson, WR/DB Alex Bowling - RJ Jeffers, all Seniors.

Looks like there were a lot of Sophomores in 2015, but just a few Juniors. I'd be interested in hearing from someone that knows more about the 2016 team/players that are returning and contributed/saw some decent playing time. :)

1. Greenback

2. Coalfield

3. Oneida

4. Harriman

5. Midway

6. SB

7. Jellico

I would love to see GB vs SP in the playoffs. Does anyone know the format for home teams in the playoffs this year?

I think that Region 2 will have to travel in the semis. I'm not sure if seeding plays into it or not though. Edited by TheMan2015

  • 2 months later...

How many returning starters/key players does Midway & Harriman return, and how did they look this Spring? I spoke to a friend who has a son playing for Oneida and from what they said it was going to be an so-so season especially compared to 2015 which they lost a lot of good players. They scrimmaged Wartburg and supposedly it didn't go very well(I saw the two team's on video from the scrimmage from a couple of highlights).

My Prediction to this point going into the fall.

1.) Greenback
2.) Coalfield
3.) Midway, Oneida, Harriman
6.) Jellico
7.) Sunbright

I'm pretty sure Harriman lost a boat load.

A good friend of mine said the same thing about the Indians, lost a lot of size and didn't have any speed....But I have learned one thing NEVER count those Indians out! That's a proud bunch up there.Midway should be better this year, they have been pretty young the past couple of years.GB and Coalfield should be the teams to beat for the region.Harriman lost a ton of outstanding linemen and a heck of a back in Green.Jellico and Sunbright will be the sacrificial lambs once again.

^ Yeah that's how it looked in the video. Search "Oneida TN Football"(I can't mention or post the other site's name(MP) or link) but you'll get an idea. The QB looks good/accurate, they have at least 1 good returning RB.

From my previous post before Spring practice:

"last years local paper 2015 football preview Oneida lost some key players to graduation namely RB/LB Nate Bowling- Dalton Chambers, TE/DL Andrew Flint, OL/DL Isaiah Byrge, WR/DB Cage West and a couple others from the OL/DL. I remember some stating, maybe in this thread(lol I should have re-read it) Harriman lost a lot of players. Midway I have no Idea.

    • He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
    • Danny Wilson is the only one that come's to mind but I don't know where he is at now.
    • I am pro coach all day long but there are some knucklehead hires for sure.
    • This is a great question. The retirement seemed a little premature. I do not know the coach personally, but I hope he has found what he is looking for. He is a fine Christian man with a lot of principle and morals about him. I wish him nothing but the best. There are some players in the box for the next coach. This is going to be interesting to see how it plays out.
