Make up game time . First match up seems a long time ago . Will the snow stay away long enough to get this game in .

First match up could have went eithier way . In the end Blue devils prevail in Herirage . Big rivalry you throw out records cause you just never know . Patriots having a disappointing year Devils starting to have a promising year . You know patriots would love nothing more than to put a loss on the Blue devils . That would probably force the two to face up in the district tournament at Heritage . I would say blue devils want no part of that .

A lot of turmoil surrounding the coach at Heritage and his tactics to get kids to play . Blue devils just play to their competition. Match up wise this game should not be close . Heritage does not match up well at all . The speed of White House is the biggest problem . Then you will have a mismatch on the floor at all times . Both teams have 3 games this week . Any other comments on this rivalry

Wonder if the game will be canceled or not. The schools are only 3-5 miles apart I would say.

 

I agree about the rivalry and throwing records out. Heritage should come and play inspired basketball tonight. The devils looking to improve their home record this year to 7-2 with a win. The two losses being to springfield and cheatham county.

 

Just a little history of this "rivalry".  The two teams were kind of kept away from each other while heritage was still in single A. Until the 2013-2014 season when they were put into the same district.

 

A lot of people will forget or not remember , but the two teams played back in heritage's early years with Slagle, hill, jarrell, miller some of those players who kind of started it all for heritage.  They met in a christmas tournament at Overton Highschool in 2004-2005 season where White House won the game.

 

So here is the history between the two.... wins and losses and years

 

2004-2005  WH 1-0    Heritage 0-1

2013-2014 WH 0-2     Heritage 2-0

2014-2015 WH 1-1     Heritage 1-1

2015-2016 WH 1-0     Heritage 0-1

As far as the game tonight, I hope it is a competitive fun game for both the players and the crowd. Just don't see how White House could lose tonight at home playing to be the #2 seed, and just how they have played at home this year. If a team was going to come in to the Devils' house and beat them this would be the team to do it though. I believe this game is all about the tempo of the game. If the devils get out and make heritage run with them, the patriots are in for a long night. I got the devils 72-62 to continue their post christmas success giving them their 6th win in the last 8 games.

Believe he worded it as a significant transfer ... Idk about BIGTIME player , but a player who had some untapped potential ... He transferred from White House to White House -Heritage is why it was significant .... Will admit he did put on a clinic when heritage came and played at White House the next year ..

 

And I believe it was their last year in single A when that happened about substate

2012 was the Richland debacle. Had that game won at halftime and blew it in the second half.

that's basketball though... kinda like Kentucky blowing the halftime lead this year with Tennessee. Crazy stuff happens.

Yeah, Heritage had a pretty good team in 2012-2013.  If Tyler Cunningham didn't get hurt in the Regional semi-finals, the Patriots would have been State-bound.  Ryan Sizemore had just transferred there and had 19 points in the second half after Tyler's injury and put them into the Regional finals. Heritage did not do as well as expected the following year when they moved out of single A.  That was the year that Cheatham was exceptionally good.  I see a bright picture in the immediate near future for White House.  I have heard that the other hot shot freshman (he transferred to Station Camp following his 8th grade year) is transferring back to the Blue Devils.  I could be wrong, but thats what I heard.  Also, I expect Tyler Welch to take over as head coach next year and he will step out of the shadows and into the light.

 

With the Heritage program still struggling to find themselves, I would expect WH to win tonight.  It should be a barn burner though and I will be enjoying it.  Hope nobody gets hurt and that no fights break out.  Healthy respect for one another is the best way to go.

I remember the last game well . Heritage had every chance to win the game late but devils D stood tall to the challenge . Heritage student section was very small . Kind of shocking ,last year it was amazing . These are totally different teams than first time they met . Should be a good game for a half then expect devil bench and press wears down patriots . 82-64

Good Post. Thanks for the History, I had forgotten the 2004 game. 

 

Heritage wins a tough battle tonight scoring the winning shot with 9 seconds left on the clock. Big man for Heritage stepped up a notch or three tonight. Scored the winning basket and swatted the last second shot from White House to seal the win. Great D a few steals and a breakaway DUNK by Heritage in the final few sets turned the momentum toward the new blue.

 

79-78 final...Heritage has a squad full of athletes I don't see how you figured White House would wear them down by "making heritage run with them" . They are just coached to play under control and make the most of each possession, take good shots. That usually means a slower tempo type game. Tonight was a mix of both. I'm not sure if the devils press produced one turnover, I don't remember one.

 

One of the Most Intense high school games I've ever seen...I am proud of both teams for the way they handled themselves on the court. There was a lot of mutual respect for each other out there and it showed. Especially in the hand shake line after the game. Good stuff.

 

On to Cheatham Co tomorrow night.

I believe will be before it is all said and done. The teams have only played 7 times, but was a good crowd last night, and a great game. Credit to both teams playing hard and clean. Much respect on both sides!!  Should be good for a long time.

 

 

Portland moving up to 9-AAA kind of took away the rivalries luster... But being in same district in football should bring it back at least for the football end of the rivalry..
