Changes at South Doyle?

What's going on at South Doyle? Principal and AP/AD on administrative leave.

I am not claiming this to be fact, but I was told by a source within the school system that it had to do with a classroom discipline incident between a teacher and student and how the two administrators handled the situation.

I would think this is just precautionary and protocol for handling such incidents and both men will have a chance to be heard and tell their version of exactly what happened. These are two good men. Wish all involved the best.

That's not even close.

But as you say, let it play out.  Tim Berry and Clark Duncan are solid administrators and both are men of character.  There apparently is an issue there, but I don't think it will be found that either of them are responsible in any shape, form, or fashion for the issue.  Everything I have been led to believe, as you say, involving the two of them is precautionary and following protocol.

Sure doesn't bode well for Clark and the principal that this is dragging out so long.

Not necessarily true.

Keep in mind a couple of things:

1.  Our current superintendent has never been quick about investigations and making decisions.  Never in any situation.  Remember how he strung Derek Rang along for months?

2.  That superintendent is leaving in July, and again his history says that he may just choose not to deal with this and let his successor deal with it.  That wouldn't shock me.

Clark and Tim Berry are solid men, men of character.  This isn't about anything they did.  They did nothing immoral or criminal.  Their part of the "investigation" is one of a procedural and an administrative nature.  Their hands are tied at this point.

Bottom line, nothing has been determined at this point and time and it will likely take a while because as I understand it there are more than one agencies involved in the investigation.

I just hate it for all involved.

I agree that both Clark and Tim Berry are first class men, but if the superintendent chooses not to address this issue, that will put both men on leave until sometime, most likely, in late July or early August. That puts the football team and the school in tough situations, being without their leader.

i have heard to completely different stories as to what cause this. One being very bad for all involved, and the other being not so bad. I do not know which to believe, but hope for the best for all involved.

I think you misunderstood my point.

It was said that the longer it drags on the worse it would be for Tim and Clark.  My point was that not necessarily, given the current state of Knox County Administration and the history of this Superintendent taking months to make decisions.  It is quite possible that it could be turned over to the next or interim Superintendent, and still not come out badly for them when all is said and done.

It would, however, obviously be an issue for the South Doyle football team.  That said, there is a very capable coordinator there - who is a former head coach in Idaho - who would most likely be the interim head coach until the issue with Clark is settled, and he is very familiar with the offense Clark runs, as well since he has helped with the OL the last couple of seasons.  Not a lot would change as far as what they try to do on both sides of the football, and he is a guy the players know well and they would know what to expect in him.

While it wouldn't be an ideal thing to have to go without Clark, Jay would do a great job filling in.

But in the end all of us who know Tim and Clark are hoping for a quick resolution concerning their part of the investigation and they are back in their positions sooner rather than later.

HTV,

Thanks for your thoughts and insights on this unfortunate situation. I hope for all involved it doesn't drag out unnecessarily.

Wanted to say too that I saw and appreciated the comment you directed to me on a football playoff thread (thought it best not to respond at that time). Your commitment to this area's high school student athletes over the years is admirable, and I'm proud to say we shared a broadcast booth back in the early days of radio!

Hope you and your family are well and that our paths cross this basketball postseason.

Thanks, Eric.  I learned a lot from you, Dave Clary, and Glenn Morton in those days.  All broadcast professionals.
