Class A Mr. Basketball Finalists
Kobe Foster, Huntland
Tyreke Key, Clay County
Nicholas Hopkins, Fayetteville

Class AA Mr. Basketball Finalists
Austin Douglas, Cheatham County
Bo Hodges, Maplewood
Garrett Sams, Westview

Class AAA Mr. Basketball Finalists
Tee Higgins, Oak Ridge
Nathan Hoover, Arlington

Lets hear everyone's thoughts on the finalist's and who do you think wins each class.

Tyreke Key should be a lock for Class A.  He is one of the best players in the state of Tn regardless of classification.

I would have to agree about Key. He is averaging 30.2 ppg, 7.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.9 steals, 1400+ points, 78% free throw, 41% 3-pointers, 64% field goal, and a 3.2 GPA.

I look at Mr. Basketball I also take into the team and there is no way Clay is 25-2 1st in 7A without Key. They are a real contender for a gold ball with Key in the lineup. Not to mention Key is an absolute class act. He doesn't show out, run his mouth, or talk trash which is unheard of in today's youth or sports.

Tee would be my vote for AAA, kid is an absolute monster and probably the best player in the state.

I can't comment on AA as I haven't seen them play.

A-Key's stats do not lie!

AA- haven't seen either play.

AAA- seen all 3 play several times.

Lomax effects the game the most on the best team in the state and is the floor general but he's young so idk if voters will give it to him bc there's so much talent around him.

Hoover is a sharp shooting senior who will probably get the vote in the end. (No i am not a Arlington fan)

Higgins is good I wouldnt say he's the best in the state bc there are a few underrated guards of similar size that could go toe to toe with him and are more polished imo. His football heroics heightens people's opinion of him in basketball.

East doesn't get the respect from the rest of the state so I think it's either Higgins or Hoover.

Btw some of the DII kids would also be finalists in some of the D1 divisions and the offers that they have are proof. (Hayden, Garland, Bone, Douglas)

DII-A

Kenny Cooper-FRA

Chase Hayden-St George's

Clayton Hughes-USJ

DII-AA

Jordan Bone-Ensworth

William Douglas-CBHS

Darius Garland-Brentwood

Like you said, I think Lomax's age will prevent him from winning it this year.

Key may be a very good, but Nick Hopkins has comparable, if not slightly better numbers:

Averaging 35.9 ppg, 6.3 rbg, 3.1 asg, 3.5 spg, over 2600 career points, free throw career avg. of 80.2%, 38.2% for 3 pointers, 54.7% for two's, and I'm not sure what his GPA is.

Having seen Hopkins and Foster play in this tough 9-A region for the past several years has been eye-opening. But my vote, for what it is, goes to Nick.

I can't say I disagree with you as those stats are very good. However Fayettville doesn't have a good record this year and in the eyes of most voters they take that into account. Key has likely took his team to 25-2 with 2 OT games away from going undefeated. While beating 3 AAA teams, winning both Christmas tournaments and finishing first in their district. 7A is one of the toughest districts this year with the top 4 teams having 16-18+ wins a piece.

I am not saying Key is going to win or that team stats/records will matter as I know this is an individual award but I know most voters way that information and use it for making their choice.

With 2600 career points that is a tough feat. I assume he is a senior? How many shots does he take per game? As I know Key is very very efficient.

Bo Hodges is best player in state. Tee Higgins has never beat him in AAU...

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
