Well what all of us locals done knew, it's now became official. The Dekalb County Tigers head baseball coach, Tracy Sloan, was relieved of his teaching and coaching duties today. He will not return to the school in any form or manner next calendar year.

I'm extremely glad the administration has decided to part ways with CTS after the conclusion of this years 2016 season. There is nothing worse than a lame duck coach, and that's especially true at the college and pro levels in any sport. IMO, there just wasn't any reason in delaying in the inevitable, so kudos to the people in power that made this move.

In a mediocre 3 year run as coach, Tracy lead the Tigers to a 53-50 overall record. He was 26-16 in district play, and 8-7 in the post season. I will be the first to say that Coach Sloan is a good man, but he's a slightly below average baseball coach. He squandered and wasted a ton of very good talent over his three years. We should of been competing for district and region titles during his run, not fighting to remain a game over .500.

like always....CM and UHS at the top and will battle it out in the districts

No, not like always, not quite. I know that DC slipped recently under Sloan, but we use to just about always be in contention for a district title. They typically stayed in the top 3 under Odom. It use to be UHS, DC, and LA would battle it out for the top spot year in and year out.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
