memphisbballguy
Who is the team to beat? I would assume Farragut, because they are always the team to beat. West TN looks like Houston and Arlington will be the teams to beat on Friday night.

Farragut, Bearden, Hardin Valley, DB, Morristown West, Knox West, Jeff co., Sevier co are all pretty good teams and on any night could win so far. They all have wins and losses against each other just depends on who's bats are hot and who pitches on a given night

osunut2
Farragut will have to really work to get back to state this season. The East is pretty wide open right now. District 2 and 4-AAA have a number of quality teams, plus you have Karns, Powell, and Gibbs in 3-AAA. Gonna be fun to see how it all plays out. Adcat
Farragut lost a top arm with Keyes going down, but plenty on the bench who'll step up. Bearden seems to be coming into their own with some young talent emerging and Beam leading the attack. Problem is--as the season wears on--he will get tired. Very hard to pitch and bat or play and bat every inning of every game. HVA, tho, looks very beatable. Lost their entire infield from last year and the reload is not that impressive--yet. Lloyd is good but he needs defense behind him. Farragut still team to beat--they just need to start clicking. The beginning of the season is just that--beginning. The end is what it's all about. Farragutdude
Farragut will represent Knoxville in state tourney. The karns Powell Gibbs trifecta will come in on that Monday and get their usual run rule result. Nobody wants to see lingerfelter on Friday in the win or go home game. In the district bearden is a problem but they are beatable. Hva has to have Thompson and Harris be the answer on the mound. Hva can still score runs with the best of them. They have some guys playing out of position and will suffer on defense. Farragut will win the district based on four strong starting pitchers even after the Keyes injury , solid relief and best outfield defense in the state

cbg
Who is he best team in Tennessee regardless of the classification? Are there any teams with two or three arms that will be drafted or that have signed with major D1 programs?

If a high school team has 3 SEC caliber pitchers and does not make it to the state finals there is a major problem. IMO, it probably takes 6 or 7 pitchers to win the state because most starters will not be sharp for 7 innings and someone will have to close out the games. Adcat
Looks like Farragut is going to win District, but HVA bats are getting hot right now. Bearden is struggling a bit--pitching depth an issue for them. The surprise player for Farragut is Painter. The kid has the best batting avg in Farragut history at this point, is playing a solid third base, and is the main relief/closing pitcher. They may need him to go more innings on the mound, but not a problem bc a solid infielder off the bench is Rinehart. The end of season is closing in fast. Sprint to the finish! But you can only throw one at a time
