Halls is Halls.

SD is currently in shambles

Gibbs year to make noise was last year

Powell will be improved because of coaching additions

Heritage is ready to take the next step

West is on the decline and proved it last year.

West did take a step back last year, but the cupboard isn't bare just yet. They are still miles ahead of everyone else in the region. The fact that Halls finished 2nd in the region last year is proof of that.

I thought Halls would get embarrassed in the playoffs last year, but they proved me wrong. They've gotten better, especially compared to where they were a few years ago. I think they will challenge for that #2 spot again, along with Heritage. Halls offensively has really improved over the last few seasons, but defensively they've been terrible.

Gibbs is a bit of a question mark, but I've got them penciled in at #4. Powell just needs more time in order to move up the ranks. They are getting better, and now that they've finally had a year where the staff is returning for a second season, they will continue to improve. It will also allow them to grow the roster.

SD is a mess right now, without question.

Well, name our OL / DL. Name our QB or a RB who can pound out the tough yards inside.  Name our Punter / Place kicker. It is nice to be able to say Tee Higgins and Jordan Graham but those two can't play every position. Thank you though for picking OR as one of the top teams in the East I respect your opinion.

I'm thinking you might be trying to fool someone. This team will be very good.

QB - Johnny Stewart, Stefan Mortl might come back, might also be another surprise. Johnny might not be Dunbar, but he won't take 10 yard losses. Good manager.

RB - you're kidding, right? Tre Jackson, Caleb Jackson, Chase Kimbro, Adarius Simpson, Caelen Thompson

OL - That's a tough one. Beginning of the year will be difficult, but when the weather cools of and so can play both ways, they'll be good. Caleb Brinkman, Jack Borchers, Adarius Cox, good looking transfer (name?), Kyndall Clark (later), Kayon Waters (later), Brenner Muoa, Wison Hammer, Sam McFarland, and maybe a soph might step up.

DL -  Waters started at DE, Borchers started at NG, a SR linebacker is moving to DE for spring. Others waiting their turn.

P/K -??? Tee, Graham, Kimbro, Brinkman. Seriously, I have no idea. Actually, Tee really can punt and Chase can kick. Soccer player Mortl might be very good here.

This team will be loaded with speed and athletes, especially if EJ Bush shows up for football. Miner will have an excellent defense as usual. Maybe the coaches and QBs have learned....when in doubt, Tee is ALWAYS open.

I think East TN could beat relatively weak this season in 5A, but obviously it's way too early to know. Sevier Co/Mo West in Region 1, Knox West in Region 2, Farragut/OR in Region 3, and Ooltewah/Rhea Co in Region 4 - those are the teams I'm looking at right now, but most of those teams have to replace quite a bit of talent. This could be a year where a team under the radar really surprises in the east.

I'll be curious to see Donovan Stewart's picks once he releases them. We should be seeing those in a few days.

The usual suspects in the east.

Had to laugh at "when in doubt Tee's always open". Seemingly true. Very special talent. Region 2 will have a lot of parity.  I would expect West but some of you guys made some good points. Football fans may get into watching how this region pans out.  Heritage was impressive and Halls steadily improved.  Powell new coach has a lot of expectations put on him but must keep his borders closed.  With Halls competing may get harder and harder. Campbell County is the spoiler but Oak Ridge is getting that speed back the way it used to be. Graham is fast whether he's a freshman or not he's real fast. Seen him twice at track meets (Hardin Valley invitation and vs. Hardin Valley at Oak Ridge. The Jackson kid is fast too and there was another kid that could run.  Wish  Mr. Higgins ran track. I bet he could be a great hurdler and high jump, long jump guy.

No Nole, just lack of knowledge on my part. Remember, I've been in Chattanooga since 2001 and it is hard to keep up with the Cats. I will do a better job this season and get to many games. Thanks for your post, it brought me up to speed on our Wildcats.

In the next couple of years I'll know little of the insider details. That will so very strange.

Is the surprise @ QB the Bearden transfer who was trying to play on the basketball team this past year? I hear he can sling the ball according to my little neighbor kid, who is on the team. According to him he could end up starting. Of course I take what he says with a grain of salt.

    • Yep..could possibly have 3 teams ranked in top ten in the same four team district.
    • He had an opportunity to be the OC at TC without final say in the offensive gameplan. How does that work? Smh. Head Coaches are public figures regardless of the community size, and yes there are some out there, it’s irrelevant and not fair to them to name them on here. Also why is said “head coach” the head coach of the MS baseball program to begin with? Oh because no one wants it. As for the Lebanon question, I know what I’ve been told so just going off here say, some of the boosters were not happy with his roster decisions and wanted him out. Although he lead them to 20+ wins in multiple seasons
    • A head coach in the school system? No I dont think so. Head coaches are public figures in small communities. Not trying to slander, but this is an actual question. Do you know why he was forced to resign at Lebanon? This was his second chance.  He already left trousdale once and had an opportunity to come back a couple of years ago but spoiled that.
    • Are you perfect? Nope no one is, at the end of the day there are several teachers/coaches and even some in the Trousdale County school system that have DUI’s on their record. You’re correct on it being a bad mistake and it unfortunately could have ended horribly. While you consider the consequences minimal, I can assure you they are not. Ultimately I hope and have faith that he will learn from it and use it to better himself.
